Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dips

Can anyone provide a review of the new dips? I'm looking for some shortcuts for a last minute party.

  • Southwestern Black Bean and Corn
  • Jalapeno Cheddar
  • Buffalo with Celery

Jalapeno Cheddar is very good if you love hot/spicy dips.

Re: Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dips

I did not know there were new flavors. Will have to try them out.

Last night I found a recipe. It called for Philadelphia Cream Cheese with onion and chives. I thought oh good. I had bought that not too long ago. I can use it.

It was the last item to be used in the recipe. Well, someone had opened the container and used some of the product. And since I hadn't expected it to be opened, I did not want to use any of it. So I threw it out. I still don't know what it tastes like.

@drizzellla

Smart to not use since you didn’t know when it was opened.  What was your recipe?

I like the Philadelphia Cream Cheese with Onion & Chive on Town House crackers. (I think the combination of the onion and chive adds a lot of flavour, as opposed to just chive)

Nice snack with either a glass of Sancerre or a French Chardonnay such as a Macon or a light Pouilly Fuisse.

(I also like the Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese.)

This was the recipe -

Ingredients

2 large baking potatoes
1/4 cup chive-and-onion cream cheese
1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup frozen whole kernel corn
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
2 green onions, sliced (about 2 tablespoons)
1 plum (Roma) tomato, chopped
Thinly sliced chives, if desired

Steps
  • 1 - Pierce potatoes with fork; place on microwavable paper towel in microwave oven. Microwave on High 8 to 10 minutes, turning after 4 to 5 minutes, until tender. Let stand about 5 minutes until cool enough to handle.
  • 2 - Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. Scoop out about 2 tablespoons of pulp from center of each half; place in medium bowl. Reserve potato shells. Mash potato pulp with fork. Stir in cream cheese; set aside.
  • 3 - Meanwhile, in 10-inch skillet, cook beef, salt and pepper over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in corn, tomato sauce, onions and tomato. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until hot and bubbly.
  • 4 - Spoon beef mixture into potato shells. Top each with about 1/4 cup potato and cream cheese mixture. Place on microwavable platter. Microwave uncovered on High 4 to 6 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serve immediately. Top with chives.
I did not microwave. I cooked the potatoes in the oven. And I used 6 potatoes and increased the other items. It had said the recipe was for 4 people. And I thought that 2 potatoes and 4 people was a bit stingy.  I also used Enchilada sauce rather than just tomato sauce. To give it a little kick.

Re: Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dips

I've tried the

  • Southwestern Black Bean and Corn and the
  • Buffalo with Celery

They are both creamy and thick. I really liked the Buffalo with celery on tortilla chips and even on thin crackers. I bought that one again.

The other was okay but bland.

Re: Philadelphia Cream Cheese Dips

Hi I brought the Buffalo one and the Jalapeno for New Years. Both were delicious!! Try them. Why make your own when you can buy these usually on sale. I had mine with the Pepperidge Farm Butter crackers. Any cracker or chip will do. These dips are good!!
