I caught part of a Food Network show where one of the contestants made pancakes using yellow cake mix. He also added candied bacon and some other kind of filling and then kind of rolled it.
Unfortunately I wasn't able right at that moment to write anything down and after searching the 'net I can't locate that recipe.
I did find some other recipes for pancakes made from cake mix, but they all call for sprinkles being added and are completely dessert like (which might not necessarily be bad lol).
I would love to know if anyone here has ever tried making pancakes from cake mix, and if they have any recipe they'd like to share.
The more simple the better. "Simple" will give me the best chance of success, as I am a terrible cook and that's well known in my family. I'm always the set up/clean up and bring the drinks person at any family gathering. ![]()

If you just need a recipe for making pancakes from yellow cake mix, google "pancakes from yellow cake mix." It might not be the one from Food Network that you get, but there are several recipes for pancakes from yellow cake mix.

@SunSpriteWith cake mix and candied bacon, those pancakes sound like dessert to me or perhaps pancakes for brunch. Doesn't make them bad, just not something I want for breakfast.

LOL! I have always thought of ALL pancakes as "dessert for berakfast"!

I have gone many times to the Foodnetwork's web site and entered the item I was searching for and it would come up. If you know the specific cook and date it was aired will help locate it as well.

Found this one on Food Network, you can use for the basic recipe and change up your preferred 'additives'.

I never thought about making pancakes out of regular cake mix. But why would you do that? Maybe if your pantry was overstocked with Betty Crocker / Pillsbury / Duncan Hines cake mixes. I've made cookies with cake mix when I was in that situation.

I've used a package muffin mix, the kind that makes about 6 muffins.
Blueberry, chocolate chip, apple.
Use 2/3 cup milk & one egg.
A package of cake mix would make a lot more pancakes than I need.

@SunSprite Does it get any easier and fool-proof than the Bisquick pancakes? If you aren't a good cook, stick with the tried and true basic deal.

I saw part of the same show! I missed how they made them too, but I sure was curious. Nancy Fuller said something like "Oh my goodness, I'm using yellow cake mix to make my pancakes from now on!" when she ate them. It was on a very old episode of Holiday Baking Championship. I'm also wondering about a 6 layer bar that Melissa(?) made on the newest episode last night. The judges loved it. It looked good to me too and I don't normally like those! I need to go back and see if I can figure out what she did! 😁
Had to edit my reply. I found the show on demand. What he made was pretty easy- crepes made with the yellow cake mix. The box of cake mix, 3 eggs whisked slowly and then about a cup of milk. Make the batter thin so it can be used as a crepe batter and will swirl around in a pan before setting. (If you have never made them, maybe watch a video?). Let rest a bit before cooking. These were a bit thicker than the usual crepe he said. He filled with maple cream cheese and diced crisp bacon. Topped with candied nuts but his original plan was to top with apple chips and they said that would have been better. Served with warm maple syrup.
Even Lorraine Pascale said they were "scrumpillyumptious" or some such word, and she is VERY picky!
