It's so fun to reminisce about the foods we had as a child. Thanks for sharing, MrsButtercup!! The home recipes are the ones that nursed us back to health when nothing else seemed to sound good...

I figure the 3% fat can't be as bad as the meats that cook on a pizza?? or other recipes... Smiley Wink

That's a true thing! Talk about old timey comfort foods, I still want lime jello with pineapples in it when I'm sick. Silly, isn't it? Oh and ginger ale and Campbell's Chicken Noodle. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Old quick comfort recipe

we make something similar in this area, hot open face sandwiches. You take 2 or 3 slices of plain white bread and lay them on your plate than pile either leftover roast beef, ham, pork or meatloaf, all thinly sliced and top with gravy. You heat the meat and gravy first than pile the meat on your bread than top with gravy(of your choice). This is served with mashed potatoes and applesauce usually on the side since you can put some of the gravy on your mashed potatoes.

This is a very popular quick meal around here but never had it with hamburger.
