Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

@sabatini .... YUM!  I would love a slice of that ... or maybe a whole pie!!

Now....onto a sandwich to have before pie.....(found in Taste of Home magazine...good use for some leftover, chicken, etc.)

Rotisserie Chicken Panini

3 tablespoons mayonnaise

4 1/2 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon LEMON JUICE

1/2 teaspoon prepared pesto

1/4 teaspoon grated LEMON ZEST

dash pepper

4 slices sourdough bread

1/4 lb. sliced rotisserie chicken

4 slices ready to serve cooked bacon

2 slices smoked part-skim mozzarella cheese

2 slices red onion, separated into rings

4 slices tomato

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Combine first 6 ingredients; spread half over 2 bread slices.  Layer with chicken, bacon, mozzarella cheese, onion and tomato.  Spread remaining mayonnaise mixture over remaining bread slices; place over top.  Brush outsides of sandwiches with butter.  Cook in panini maker or indoor grill until bread is brown and cheese is melted, 3-4 minutes.

Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

MILLION  DOLLAR SPAGHETTI with Italian Sausage

Ingredients

16 ounces spaghetti noodles

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
salt and pepper, to taste
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced

24 ounce jar marinara pasta sauce

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
1 cup cottage cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

3 Tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 ⁰ F.
  2. In a large skillet cook and crumble the ground beef and Italian sausage and season with salt and pepper. Remove most of the grease.  Add onions and garlic and cook for a few minutes until onion is translucent.
  3. Add all but 1/2 cup of the marinara sauce to the mixture and stir to combine. Set aside.
  4. Reserve 1/2 cup for the noodles
  5. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, just until al dente.
  6. Combine cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese in a bowl and mix well.
Smooth over noodles in the pan.
  7. Place hot spaghetti in a large mixing bowl with butter and 1/2 cup marinara sauce and toss to combine. Pour half of the pasta into a 9x13’’ pan.
  8. Top with remaining noodles.  Add meat mixture on top and smooth into an even layer.
  9. Top with mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until hot and bubbly.  At around 20 minutes check and if the cheese is browning too quickly, place a piece of foil over dish.

Next ingredient starts with an "M" or your choice.

Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

@jkmcem ..... I've been to three stores now with no luck finding them even after Zhills posted updated name as Harvest Apples.  When I find them, I will buy more than one!

Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

Just found this online...

5 out of 5 stars.

DISCONTINUED

OMG! I love these things. I usually buy them 2 or 3 times a month, and just thought my Publix stopped stocking them - so sad. But now that I REALLY need them and am ready to head out to any store within 25 miles that sells them, I find that it wasn't just my Publix. They are discontinued! WHY??? I've been buying them for at least 25 years, maybe longer. And there were a lot of times they were sold out. It makes no sense at all

So sorry!  Would never have guessed.  There is a copycat recipe online if you wish to go that route.

Recipe:

2 to 3 medium apples Peel and cut up to desired size.  Put in pan. Add:
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Corn Starch
Dash of Salt
1/2 teaspoon Lemon Juice
Stir to coat apples well.

Add cup of water (or apple juice if you have it).
Cook until apples are JUST SOFT.

Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 or 2 tablespoons water
until dissolved. Add to pan and stir until thickened.

Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

Thank you for the recipe. I just cut up 2 apples, added some cinnamon and sautéed them in 2 tbsp. Butter. I thought the dish came out good even though not too sure what the original looked like.

Re: NOVEMBER 2023 RECIPE GAME

I think they would work OK.  The flavor would be the same.  The combination of the two is delightful!  Hope you enjoy!
