I know Wondra was part of a recent recall.
Has anyone seen it return to their store yet??
I miss my Wondra!

What is it?

Thanks. I haven't heard of it. I wonder if I'm just not observant or if it's regional.

Wondra is regular all purpose flour, but it's finely milled to use to thicken sauces. It comes in a blue can, It's usually near the baking soda/baking powder.

Sorry , I thought everyone knew what Wondra was.
It is a flour made by General Mills, it has been around since the 60's. It is a searing flour basically.

Well, you all have solved a mystery for me. I hadn't heard about the recall, and the other night I reached for my can of Wondra, only to find it empty. I confess, it's probably 10 years old. I don't use much flour!
Anyway, I went to Amazon to add a container to my cart, and was shocked to find it priced at about $18! I thought it must be discontinued and a collector's item! Didn't buy it, of course.
For those who don't know it, it's white flour that's been treated in some way so it's got a finely granulated texture. Its claim to fame is that it won't clump when you put it in a sauce. Oh, and it keeps practically forever! So, bottom line, you don't want to think too carefully about whether it's good for you or not. Just enjoy the cream sauce and don't do it too often!

I have more than half a can in the pantry so haven't checked the store shelves, will have to take a look, but $18 Yikes! I believe it was a General Mills thing, can't remember the particulars.
