My DH (who is not well) has recently enjoyed eating jello. I fixed orange jello and put canned pears in it, he loved it.  I haven't made jello in years and I would like to know if you have a special, fairly simiple jello treat that you might recommend.  Thank you.

When I was a kid, my mom would put fruit cocktail in it. I would think any kind of canned fruit would do. If he likes carrots, you can shred them and add  to your jello.

I love jello.  Usually put fruit cocktail that was packed in juice, not syrup.  When I have more time I will use fresh fruit.  I am a fan of lime, raspberry or cherry.  I also like to top it with some walnuts for a little crunch and good protein. I know there is a back in the day recipe with strawberries and crushed pineapple.

Why juice? Why not syrup?

I like orange jello with shredded carrots. Throw in a few cherries.

I drain the fruit. Juice has less sugar and fewer calories. Regular jello already has a lot of sugar in it.

One thing I learned the hard way as a teenager: never put pineapple in jello.  It will not "set" because of something in pineapple.

At 77, I remember this from Chemistry class, but not the name of the component responsible.  ( bromide ? )

Orange jello with crushed pineapple and canned mandarin oranges.  My girls loved it when they were little.  Drain the crushed pineapple well and add a bit less water to the jello when preparing.

I like to make cherry jello, cut it into 2 in by 2 in squares and serve with freshly sliced bananas on top and then a little squirt of whipped cream.

Now I have a taste for Jello!🤣🤣🤣

It will set with canned pineapple.  I think it is fresh pineapple that will not let it set.
