Help!! Need Some Ideas For A Winning Dessert

Hi Friends! I am at wits end here. I have been going through my recipes in search of an "OH WOW" dessert! Where I work (long term care) they are doing a contest for the BEST dessert submitted. LOL I am up against some tuff competition! I know I can count on you to give me some ideas..AND some tried and true recipes. {#emotions_dlg.wub}I sure would appreciate it! TIA dear friends.

If your folks at work are looking for something beyond a chocolate cake or bread pudding, I'd ask you to head over to Recipe Swap. Yesterday I posted a German (Swabian) recipe for an apple tart topped/filled with a slightly lemon flavored souffle within rich pastry (bottom and sides). I've always gotten raves for this. Though it's not embellished after baking, the taste speaks volumes.

I always believe that a simple dish done very well can be exquisite. In our family, that would amount to either a pie or a cheesecake. Give that a thought.

Cheesecake is always a winner. Trifle is also good. If the weather is warm where you are, a bombe of ice cream and sorbet is pretty, made in a rounded metal bowl. If a main dish is filling, sorbet or frozen yogurt with fresh berries is refreshing.

SassyLassy, this post was originated on the old Recipe Swap board on Dec. 7, 2011.  SFnative's response about the apple tart was dated April 25, 2015, while Recipe Swap still existed.

I cannot explain how/why this old thread has been resurrected, but we can hope someone (SFnative, maybe?) will see this and share the recipe with you.  Sorry I cannot be of further help.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.
