The reporters at the NBC  station bought some roasted Chiles  last night and ate the squished on a folded tortilla with salt and garlic.

Re: Hatch chilis advice ? recipes ?

On it , Katchina thank you now I want to try them
The bags of chilies was sitting on ( I think ) 3 boxes I’ll check to see what the boxes say to indicate which heat level they are I didn’t think of that
Hopefully they will still be some at our local store, if not we have 3 more Publix near where I live
I only want the mild I’m an admitted wimp when it comes to spicy foods I just can’t tolerate medium or hot peppers 🌶️

Kachina I bet it smells wonderful outside your local stores from the roasted peppers
Lol most of our area Walmarts have subways restaurants in them and smell like baked subway breads

Almost every place in New Mexico that sells hamburgers offers a Hatch chili cheeseburger.  Yum!

@colleena --I'm in Woodinville and go to Haggen to shop. This is when the grocery store roasts them in a big round , rotating basket every day for a few days--the smell is amazing too, so you can buy them already roasted. I would use them in eggs for a scramble or even stuff them with various things and serve ith a sauce. Rolled up in a tortilla is yummy too. a chili would even taste good with these chilis. I have the Ninja outdoor grill/smoker that I can roast them myself too.

@wagirl Great ideas, thanks.

Haggen is one of my favorite stores & so glad to hear that there's still stores down your way in Woodinville.  I'm not exactly sure what they were thinking several years ago when they expanded so fast even down in California.  Up here they've really tried to go back to community involved; I helped out at a band concert last Tuesday supported by Haggen/Barkley where one could bring food/blankets to listen or there were food trucks also, they sold raffle tickets for some nice items & all the benefits went to a local non profit I support.

Our local Publix had Hatch chilis this morning , the bags had prob 6/8 chilis per bag , they were large peppers
I’m not familiar with the chilis so I didn’t purchase them yet
Are they hot ? Med ? Mild ?
The man in the produce dept couldn’t answer my questions he wasn’t familiar with them either
But said some are buying multiple bags
Anyone familiar and have any good recipes they’d like to share ?

@Shihtzursqmom

While I can't speak to how they're prepared, last year I had a few bites of a friend's hatch fritatta.

The taste was mild, and I couldn't taste any difference compared to regular diced green chilis you can buy in a can.

EXCELLENT addition to mac & cheese!

@Desertdi I was thinking the same thing.  Trader Joe's makes a frozen Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese which is pretty good.  I usually have some in the freezer, but I would imagine fresh being so much better.  It's not at all hot.

[ Edited ]

2 weeks ago Albertson's had some hatch chili's already roasted and in containers ready to eat, they had the  containers marked mild, hot and extra hot, I picked up the hot first then changed my mind and got the mild instead, glad I did, the mild were just right not too hot and they were so delicious, I eat these chili's with everything, went back this past weekend to pick up more but they were all gone, shucks!

Re: Hatch chilis advice ? recipes ?

When I went back to the store a couple days after I saw the peppers I was told they had all been sold and went fast
The man in the produce dept said people were buying them in bulk hopefully they’ll be back next year and I’ll be sure to grab some
Thanks everyone for the suggestions on preparing them
