Had the best "Burger" yesterday. Sure to try at home.

[ Edited ]

Yesterday we were out running errands and I needed lunch, so we dropped by Bistro 23 here in Portland. It sure didn't look like anything on the outside and actually the Bistro and its neighbors share an exterior "pioneer" theme.  We almost missed the Bistro sign for the huge "Pioneer" sign.

Once inside, we were surprised to find what appeared to be a great lunch menu on blackboards: sandwiches, salads, burgers, "shorts," and entres.  Because it sounded so yummy, I chose the "Polenta Burger," which I will try at home some day.

Here's what Bistro 23 did:

Brioche bun

Burger was a rectangle of moist polenta, grilled then topped with white cheddar

A few thin strips of roasted red pepper

Some caramelized onions

Garlic aoli

Arugala

This "burger" was divine!

Hahaha - You're sure right about the carbs.  However, I justified it by telling my husband, "Hey, it has arugala on it."  LOL!

Sounds Yummy. Wish we had some place around here to get a good burger. If we want one we make it on the grill. We ate a really good burger on our way home from Fl last trip. We stopped in Conway, Arkansas to spend the night. On the way to the hotel I saw a place called David's Burgers & they were packed. I told DH that's what we are eating for dinner. He said why. I said because they are so busy you know it's good. They make burgers fresh daily never frozen, fresh homemade fries. DH loves the caramelized onions they put on it. Best burger I have ate in a long time.

You're so right about returning that night to David's Burgers because the place was packed.  We would have done the same thing,  That's good advice for anyone.

Right now after living here for 2 years, I'm still looking for a Chinese restaurant with more than 3-4 cars in the parking lot.  They are a dime a dozen here, but haven't found one on our side of the river yet with a "packed" parking lot or line down the street.

That does sound good! Been reading through my books of "Eat this, don't eat that!" and been reading where not to stop and eat. So it was fun to see where to stop and eat, with flavor! Must have flavor!!!
