I Love dessert dips for casual parties/get togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 tsp. imitation vanilla extract
  • 2 c. (230 g.) confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 c. funfetti sprinkles
  • Vanilla wafer cookies, pretzels, and/or strawberries, for serving

Directions

    1. Step 1In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium-high speed (or in the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment), beat butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy, about 1 minute. Scrape down sides of bowl. Beat in vanilla on medium speed, then gradually add confectioners' sugar and beat until combined, about 1 minute. Fold in sprinkles.
    2. Step 2Transfer dip to a serving bowl. Serve with cookies alongside.
    3. Step 3Make Ahead: Dip can be made 1 day ahead. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate. Bring to room temperature before serving.

What to serve with the dip?
Dip and mix however you please. The sweet dippers can be Nilla wafers, fresh whole strawberries, and/or plain graham crackers, while savory options include sourdough pretzel nuggets or pretzel crisps.

Can I add funfetti cake mix?
You can use funfetti cake mix in the dip for added “funfetti” essence. After all, it’s what the dip is all about. Just make sure to use a cake mix that you can eat raw. Simply add 1/2 cup mix to the dip recipe below.

How to store?
You can store the funfetti dip for 3 days in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.

My DIL made this for Christmas and we dipped fruit, small vanilla waffers in it and it was a hit and so good. We never get too old for sprinkles...LOL

Yum!  Add another cup or more of confectioner's sugar and a splash of milk (or also some melted unsweetened chocolate) and you have my recipe for a very good cream cheese frosting for your layer cakes. I've been making this for years for my family and everyone loves it.

My SIL taught me to make Funfetti Dip from 2 cups Greek yogurt, 3 tbsp brown sugar, and 3/4 tsp vanilla.  Stir in 1 tbsp sprinkles right before serving.

@retiredatlast - thank you! This would also be a good frosting for cupcakes 🧁

I wonder why the recipe calls for imitation vanilla....
