Easy Method To Prevent Apples From Browning

I'm trying to incorporate more apples into my diet.

I purchased some sliced green and red apple slices from Walmart.   The expiration date on the package was good - almost 7 days after the date of purchase.   Opened the package last night, put the apples in a Tupperware container and this morning they're already turning brown.

What is an easy method that works for you to keep sliced apples fresh for snacking?

@BunSnoop The best method that I know is to buy the whole apples and cut when ready to eat.I am sure it is more expensive when someone else cuts them and it is simple to do.I read that you can put lemon juice on the apple to stop browning but I haven't tried it.

I cut an apple in slices and then in chunks and take them to work everyday.  I sprinkle lemon juice.  But you will taste it which I don't mind because I salt mine.  I cut them at night and put them in an airtight bowl.  They don't brown.

I expect opening the package caused the apples to oxidize and that turned them brown.  Maybe they were supposed to have been eaten after opening the package, and opening the package was supposed to take place within 7 days of receipt.

Citrus acid will stop fruit from turning brown.  You can sprinkle them with orange or lemon juice or buy a product called Fruit Fresh.  Fruit Fresh is in powder form.  It is usually found in the canning isle of the store.

I pack my DH sliced apples a few times a week.  I slice them into a container of water with a little fruit fresh.  Then drain and dry the fruit off a little and pack in a lunch container.  They are always perfect.

I use Fresh Fruit too.  I inherited a lifetime supply from my mom.

Soak apple slices in a cup of water with a tablespoon of honey mixed in. I store them in a Ziploc bag and they will last for almost a week.

@BunSnoop

I buy the sliced apples at Walmart that are in the clear plastic container, it's a good sized container, and they never turn brown. I'm sure they used citrus so they won't turn, but they stay nice in that container till the very last slice... It sounds like that's what you bought so I'm surprised they turned.

I’m not the OP but I like to have something easy to grab that’s healthy.  For some reason I’ve never liked eating an apple in my hand and I seldom eat a whole one.
