My great aunt used to make a great shrimp pasta salad with shells, chopped onion, chopped green pepper and chopped celery and cooked shrimp in a mayonnaise dressing. ITs a meal in itself and says summer to me. Serve with slice tomatoes and cucumbers.

My go to dressing for pasta is mayo and italian dressing mixed together. I add in some basil or pesto and whatever I feel like. Also have used Ina Gartens recipe for tartar sauce that is to die for in a pasta salad too.

I mix mayo and bottled Ranch Dressing together and I add a little cayenne pepper, roasted garlic salt, minced onions,, diced onions and whatever spices to your liking with a can of tuna or chicken, peas, carrots, bell pepper, black olives and bow tie pasta.

Yes, yes, yes, this is exactly what I was going to suggest @wagirl but you beat me to it. I really like Ken's Steakhouse Italian salad dressing plus, like you said, some mayo. I like to add some Italian seasoning and a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice and/or red wine vinegar, and a few dried red pepper flakes to this as well.
Another recipe I think I'll be making next week!

I use the dressing from a recipe on www.allrecipes.com.
Look for the awesome ham pasta salad. It is a great salad.
The dressing is : 1 cup mayo, 1/2 cup sour cream, 2-1/2 tsp. beef bouillon granules, 1 tbl. white vinegar ( I use cider ), 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 2 cloves minced garlic & 1/2 cup pickle juice.
Try not to omit the beef granules, it really makes the sauce. I couldn't find the granules when I went to make it earlier this month. I bought a box of G. Washington's Rich Brown Seasoning & Broth. There are 8 envelopes in the box, I used 2 of them. Also, I use sweet relish in the salad instead of pickles. I use 1/2 - 3/4 cup of the sweet relish (undrained) instead of the pickle juice.
I also bought a bag of the small red, yellow & orange peppers & chopped them up to use them in the salad.
Hope you will look up the recipe. Make it the day before so all the flavors will blend.

What a coincidence ... I was thinking about a cold pasta and tuna salad for lunch. If I'm adding white albacore tuna to the cooked pasta, would you make any adjustments to the dressing? TIA

This dressing is not creamy, but delicious and won't spoil in the heat.
1 can tomato soup
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
