Does anyone remember this?My elderly mother's protein level is low and the doctor wants her to eat 2 eggs everyday. She is not really that thrilled with eggs. I remember buying Bacos (not really bacon bits, freeze dried whatever) I thought maybe this would perk up the eggs. I was food shopping today and looked for it in the spice aisle and didn't see it. I haven't bought this in a long time, do they even sell this anymore?

They make Bacon Bits that are real bacon. She could drink a protein drink with her meals. Kelloggs makes some protein drinks that are very tasty. My teens drink one before they play a match or game of sports.

You can buy Bacos on Amazon or look for this at your local grocery store:

Talk about a blast from the past. Used them in salads too. Haven't for years.

@colliegirls How about those protein drinks made for seniors like Ensure? I'm surprised a doctor would suggest eating that much saturated fat. I wonder if he knows about eggs?

Yes weren't they pure Soy protein? Probably a lot higher in protein and lower in fat than real bacon....
maybe be she would prefer her eggs as custard..or a jelly omelet?

yes, they still make bacos.......i THINK i have seen them in the salad aisle (dressings, croutons, etc...) maybe OR the spice aisle......
you could also just buy a pound of bacon (turkey, pork, or beef) and fry it up really crisp for her and then chop it and freeze or refrigerate it.

What about Greek yogurt? (Those imitation bacon items are REALLY salty)

No idea about Ensure or it's taste. Eggs are back in vogue again for their nutritional value. Of the 5 grams of fat in an egg, 3 grams are "good" fat.
