Re: Cooking with Flavored Oils

My most recent purchase is Bacon flavored oil from:

http://www.theolivetap.com

I am lucky that they are local to me but they do have other stores and their oils are incredible!

If you like brussels sprouts, halve them and sauté them in some lemon olive oil until they get nice and brown. Then add a little water, cover and cook until desired tenderness.  You can also coat them in the olive oil and roast them in the oven.

We have a store here in Texas that sells them.  It's called Oil & Vinegar.  I bought some orange, thinking I could make popcorn with an orangey taste.  It did not turn out well.  I will be interested to see if anyone has any other ideas.

@santorini   Hi.  I do not have the orange oil, so cannot vouch for any recipes; however, a search for "orange oil" at The Olive Scene gave me many results, e.g., used with carrots or sweet potatoes.

Last night I posted one of their recipes for pork tenderloin with fig balsamic vinegar. Their introduction to it (which I did not include in my post) suggested a side dish of sweet potatoes with blood orange olive oil. Based on the success of the pork, I will be looking for blood orange olive oil on my next shopping trip there.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

Hi, kitty4me, no, it's just called "Oil & Vinegar".  Smiley Happy  It's a cute little shop and they sell different decorative bottles.  You have to pick your bottle and then let the store clerks go in the back and fill it with your choice of oils.  The bottles make cute gifts.
