Re: Chocolate Orange Zucchini Bread

Found this in my local supermarket circular.  It's so delicious!!   I love it because you don't need an electric mixer.

1 cup flour

1/4 cup cooca powder

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 salt (I use just a pinch)

2 eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 medium zucchini grated or one real large one (need 2 cups)

1/2 Tbsp orange zest

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (my addition, I used walnuts)

1.  Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x5 loaf pan

2.  In large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.  In medium bowl whisk eggs and oil.

3.  Pour egg mixture, zucchini and orange zest into flour mixture.  Stir in chips (and nuts)

4.  Transfer to loaf pan and bake 50 min. until cooked through and clean when you insert a toothpick in center.  Allow to cool then cut into slices.

It's really different and not overly sweet.   Something new, thought I would share.

And oh... the house smelled glorious while this was baking.

The recipe sounds great!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm going to make this for games 1 and 2 of the World Series.  I have about 10 people coming over for both games and I know all of them love that combination of chocolate and orange.  Smiley Happy

@Black Cat Back

I made this today.

Only two minor changes. I added orange flavoring since I forgot to buy the orange when I was out, and I added  about 10 minutes more to the baking time.

DH is so so picky and he really enjoyed it. So, I will save the recipe and make it again in the future. Nice and easy.

THANKS for posting!

Re: Chocolate Orange Zucchini Bread

Made this in the bread machine today as a quick bread.

I think it was great! DH, not so much, only because he had an issue with the orange flavor.

You're right! The 3/4 C of brown sugar was not too sweet, which was exactly why I liked it, plus the orange flavor! I did add vanilla & used the rest of my pecans.
