My hot dog chili is simply ground beef, chopped onion, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, broth, and just enough tomato sauce or squirts of ketchup for slight color.   I do not want dark red, tomatoey hot dog chili.   Simmer at least 30 minutes.

i like 2-Alarm Chili Kit .   or the Carroll Shelby Kit (both are good!))

 

the secret is the packet of chili powder they include. i think its Ancho chili powder  and you use only 1 8oz can of tomato sauce and another can or two of water.

 

the thing with chili is, just a hint of tomato. otherwise its just red sauce.

 

if you like HOTTT 5 or 10  Alarm chili,  add a small can of chipotles in adobo or you may want to serve on the side.

 

now i want some!!!
