Give up your family's Chile Dog recipe.

Do you boil the dogs and let them go "their own way" after?  

Or do you "corral those doggies" and show how it's done on the grill?

Or another, lesser-known way???  (Microwave?)  (Sun cooking?)

Chile is spanish for hot peppers.  It is also name of a country

OP is referring to chili which is a meat stew.

@timeless - We don't have a recipe.  We use brick chili which is made locally in So Cal.

I cook beef hog dogs in a skillet and then squeeze out the fat. I don't have a grill anymore but that was the best way to cook a dog.  Never boiled.

Chili - 

1+1/4 lb browned ground beef

1/2-3/4 chopped onion

1 can black beans, well rinsed

2 cans chili beans

1 can petite diced tomatoes (I usually drain excess juice first)

1+1/2 cans V8. I add more based on thickness.

1/2 packet French's chili seasoning packet

1/2 tsp black pepper

Simmer 15 minutes.

Let cool.

Reheat.

I always cook more than I need and put single servings in the freezer. If I want to save for a chili dog, I put in just enough chili for a dog and freeze it.

It is chili with an I and I have no recipe.  When I want a chili cheese dog I head to Freddy's.
