I found this recipe in one of my magazines I get. Have a family reunion coming up so I made them. So good.Hope everyone likes it.

2 cups flour

2 t. baking powder

1/4 t salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter-softened

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 t vanilla

1 t almond extract

1 bottle ( 10 oz ) red maraschino cherries,drained and chopped

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup chopped pecans. I added more

Heat oven to 350 degrees Coat a 13x9 x2 pan with butter or shortening set aside.

In small bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt set aside.

Cream butter and sugar for about 2 minutes.Add 1 of the eggs and 1 yolk from the 2nd egg reserving the white.Mix well and add the vanilla and almond extracts.Blend until smooth.

scatter dough into the pan and pat evenly with a rubber spatula. set aside.

Beat reserved egg white to stiff but moist peaks. pat cherries dry with paper towel. Stir in cherries and brown sugar until combined and spread over prepared crust and sprinkle with the pecans.

Bake for 30 minutes.

I think the next time I make these I will add some coconut to the crust for something different.Green cherries would be nice especially around the holidays.
