Ina's recipe calls for raisins.  That is how I remember carrot cake being made.

She also calls for pineapple.  ???

Did your lost recipe have that too?

Yes, always raisins and crushed pineapple, sweetened or not. I drained the pineapple.

It also called for chopped nuts, we didn't include nuts, my dear sister didn't like them.
