Scalloped Cabbage

1 medium head cabbage - core and rough chop in about 1" squares

Large pot of boiling water

3 tablespoons of butter

3 tablespoons of flour

3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 1/2 cups milk

3 slices American cheese - diced

4 tablespoons of melted butter

1 cup fresh soft bread crumbs

Cook cabbage in boiling water til tender (about 10 minutes)

Drain REALLY WELL - pat dry if have to

Make a white sauce with butter, flour, salt, pepper & milk

Stir in cheese til it melts

Stir cabbage into sauce

Pour into a buttered 1 1/2 to 2 quart casserole

Toss crumbs with melter butter & sprinkle over cabbage

Bake in preheated 350 oven for 30 to 40 minutes =bubbly
