I made this last night, using mini chips instead of nuts, and it's very good - very moist and almost like a coffee cake; I also sprinkled the top with cinnamon & sugar. It's fine plain, but you could also put some peanut butter or jam on it.

Brown Sugar Quick Bread

2 1/4 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon (I use more because I love cinnamon!)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
2 Tbs. butter, melted
1 cup pecans, chopped (I sometimes use mini chocolate chips instead)

Preheat oven to 350. Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Blend in the brown sugar.

In a separate bowl combine the beaten egg, buttermilk, and melted butter. Add to the flour mixture and combine well; stir in the pecans.

Pour the batter into a greased & floured 9 X 5 loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
