Definitely need more info. Budget. Travel distance. Or you could just do a repeat of someone else's since you mentioned "repeat."

I guess you didn't say "repeat" but rather, "my turn" which made me think......do a "repeat." Smiley Happy

Re: Breakfast Ideas for 30

[ Edited ]

Personally, I do not cook or bake for anyone but my immediate family.  I just do not enjoy cooking for a crowd and I would have no way to safely transport hot food for any distance.

I would order bagels and/or coffee cake, muffins, donuts from a bakery.  I have my mom's big old Westbend coffee percolator urn, in avocado green,🤣 and I could make a lot of coffee with it.  Maybe put together a simple fruit salad.

some individual bottles of fruit juice too.

Will you have access to a microwave ? If so,

Make ahead  small individual  kishes in silicone  muffin pan . You can  make some  with  sausage & cheese  and some with just vegetables. The beauty of the  silicone muffin  pan to cook them in is that they don't stick . Then pop out into a glass pan & place in  one of those lockn lock  pan carriers that keep things warm.

I think the caterer idea is the way to go. I have one recommendation. Have some offering that is not eggs. I abhor eggs and have met many others who do not eat them. Do not rely on an egg based casserole or two. Have one egg-free offering.

I like the buffet arrangement offered by many hotels. Breakfast meats, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fruit, bread choices, juice, coffee, tea. Keep everything separate so folks can pick and choose.

Around here, 8:30 is right in the middle of rush hour, so your 20 minutes travel time would be doubled. Add to that, the time it takes to prep the food and load your car and you're looking at more than an hour before you get to the host's house. Heaven forbid you have a fender bender!

I second those recommendations to hire a caterer or a company like Panera to provide the food. They do this all the time and can determine quantities so you don't have alot of waste. They'd also take care of replenishing items on the buffet table, beverages, etc. Although I haven't used a caterer lately, they'd probably provide paper plates & cups, plasticware, etc. as part of the job.

You may have gathered that I don't entertain. I'd be a nervous wreck if I were in your shoes. 😵‍💫 Good luck!

I am responsible for planning lunches at meeting many times.  I'm not sure where you live, but EZ Cater always works for me.  You can choose from many restaurants in the area, they deliver and set up.  Very reasonable.

For a large group, catering is definitely the way to go.  But, this may not be an option for you. Buy premade breakfast items at a store...mini-quiches, etc, heat and eat.  You said you are co-hosting so if the host is helping with food that is good.  I would FIX AS MUCH AHEAD as possible!  And, I would deliver a day ahead to be refrigerated and cooked in morning at host's home...if ok with her. (If refrigerated ahead, allow extra cooking time.). The "morning of" will be less stressful. Keep it simple as most women eat lighter than if this included men in the group.  You know the group and can take ideas from past breakfast gatherings.

I like egg casseroles, mini-muffins, bagels (for women...smaller type) mixed fruit bowl, coffee cake, things easy to eat.   Those who don't care for an egg dish will have fruit and muffins, etc.  Look online for ideas as well...especially non-egg dishes/ideas.

I have a good egg casserole made with ham...easy to fix ahead...will post if you would like it.  Also, sausage and apple dish that is good.
