Made my favorite today. Love this bread. White bread , that is.

Remember me and whole wheat don't get along. This is a Taste of Home

recipe I've had since forever. Never fails. I give one loaf away we can't eat it all . He's not much of a bread lover, so, I have to make a meal of it. LOL

What a magnificent thing of beauty!!!!!!! Did you do it by hand or use a machine? I love bread---Woman Wink

Hand.

Only use bread machine in winter. That thing you have to be exact and precise can't vary.  Makes me nervous LOL

COUNTRY WHITE BREAD

 

2 PKG'S ACTIVE DRY YEAST

2 CUPS WARM WATER 115' DEGREES

1/2 C. WHITE SUGAR

1 TB. SALT (USE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT HERE) LOL

2 EGGS

1/4 C. VEG OIL

6 CUPS OF FLOUR

 

(I USE  KING ARTHUR BREAD FLOUR) RECIPE SAYS 6 1/2 CUPS TO 7 CUPS.  I USED 6 FOR THIS ONE YOU HAVE TO GO BY FEEL. I LIKE TO KEEP THE DOUGH STICKY AND THEN THROW IT  IN A KING ARTHUR BREAD RAISING BUCKET. GREASED BUCKET THEN  I SPRAY A LITTLE CRISCO  SPRAY ON TOP  AND COVER IN DRAFT FREE WARM AREA.

 

I'M IN TX. SO MY HOUSE IS GOOD AND HOT LOL RAISES IN NO TIME

HAVEN'T TURNED THE A/C ON YET

 

IN LARGE MIXING BOWL,DISSOLVE YEAST  IN WATER. ADD SUGAR,SALT,EGGS,OIL AND 3 CUPS OF THE FLOUR. BEAT TILL SMOOTH. STIR  IN ENOUGH REMAINING  FLOUR  TO FORM A SOFT DOUGH. TURN INTO FLOURED SURFACE ( I GOT THE GRANITE SURFACE LOVE THAT  TO ROLL  OUT DOUGHS ON) KNEAD A FEW MINUTES. PLACE IN GREASED BOWL TURNING ONCE TO GREASE TOP.   COVER AND LET RISE IN WARM  PLACE FOR 1  HR. TILL DOUBLED.

 

DIVIDE IN HALF AND SHAPE INTO LOAVES.PLACE IN 2 GREASED LOAF PANS 9X5 X3 INCH LOAF PANS (  I LOVE THE USA  BRAND THAT B&B SELLS I HAD TO ORDER ONLINE) THE WHITE ONE IN PICTURE IS A OLD ONE I'VE HAD FOR YRS. CEREMIC , I  THINK IT IS, CORNING WARE/FRENCH WHITE.) LET RISE FOR ANOTHER HR TILL IT'S HIGH OVER LOAF PAN.

 

PREHEAT OVEN TO 375' GENTLY LIFT THE PANS AND GENTLY PUT PANS IN PREHEATED OVEN. ANY LITTLE MOVEMENT WILL MAKE THE BREAD DEFLATE. NOT GOOD. LOL

 

BAKE AT 375 FOR 25-30 MINUTES.   WHEN YOU DIVIDE THE DOUGH TAKE MORE PAINS THEN I DID TO GET EQUAL AMOUNTS OF DOUGH

TO PUT IN  LOAF PANS. LOL   I'M NOT MARTHA STEWART PERFECTIONIST IT WILL GET ATE. LOL

OMG!  They look so. Delicious.   All you need is some butter or jam and your all set.  Your house must smell so good.  Enjoy!
