Always start with hot water for things like pasta.

And it's well water 🤪

But well water still ends up in the hot water tank and goes through your pipes!

Re: BOILING WATER...

I have also learned to warm up liquid and chunks of meat before putting them into a slow cooker.

Edit:  If you have lead in your pipes from a city water source you have more problems than this one step is going to solve. Ever heard of Flint, Michigan?  There shouldn't be any lead in your water heater.

i don't use hot tap water for cooking but do boil water in electric kettle for most foods except potatoes.  kettle is one of most used appliances in our kitchen.

Always!  It just makes good sense.  I cannot see any problem with it.  Smiley Happy

I live at a somewhat high elevation and between that and something about the atmospheric pressure, it takes forever and a day to bring a cold pot of water to a boil.

I always use cold tap water for cooking.  Just thinking about using water that was in the hot water heater is gross....and to me, the water tastes funny...very metalic.

Have  you ever seen the water that is drained from a hot water heater?

Meh. I like to live dangerously. I'll risk it.
