I love it!  We always called it Braunschweiger.  I buy it two or three times a year.  But I could eat it every day!  The two main grocery stores in my area sell very good brands of it.  I like it on a poppy seed roll with mayo.  I even like it on saltine crackers.

Re: Anyone like Liverwurst?

[ Edited ]

Haven't had it in ages, but I always liked it, every now and then. I think I still would. My mom liked it too. I'm not big on too much German food such as the bratwurst stuff.

But I will say, last year in Sanford, Florida, we ate at a terrific (and way popular; always packed) German restaurant...I think I had a dish with Spitzel? So yummy. Comfort food. So, I'm sure if I tried more I'd like more.

I'm Italian descent so I grew up on all that stuff.

I do have a good friend I haven't seen in a while, who lives in NYC, from Germany...love her accent, and very direct German ways, always teased her about it. I actually admired it...she's one of those people who can say something very direct to you, without emotion or attitude attached, so you just take it as honest.

But I digressed from liverwurst... 🥪 Smiley Happy

Loved it when I was young. It was called Braunschweiger, but then one day I asked what was in it. Haven't had a bite since then.

@candys mine my father was a big proponent of us eating honey instead of white sugar, so that one was known to me.

Yes, we call it Braunschweiger, grew up having it once in a while on white bread or hamburger buns with butter or mayo. I try not to think about what it is, because it is so good and also a good source of iron. Also delicious on crackers. I get a craving for it once in while, but don't have it often anymore.  When we do it has to be Koegels.  Made here in Michigan.

@simplyfriends - I grew up on German food too! My one grandmother made only one dish when she came to visit - Sauerbraten with Spaetzles. And she wasn't German!

My father's family was from Switzerland, the French area!

My dad also belonged to the German-American club- with no German ancestry! We went for dinner at this amazing German restaurant Sunday afternoons once a month.

I never knew why my grandmother always made that dish and nothing else. We would have Spaetzles, then leftover fried Spaetzles, and more Spaetzles all week. My brother would always LOVE those meals (and I'm being sarcastic!).

I have always enjoyed a liverwurst sandwich, but when my good friend during college introduced me to the way she ate one, there was no going back for me!

So I like my liverwurst sandwich with raw onion, Swiss cheese, and mayonnaise, on seeded rye bread. Sometimes I leave off the cheese.

Now I want one! Maybe on my way home tomorrow!   Smiley Happy

Love liverwurst. I eat it with a slice of red onion for sandwiches.

My tiny Chihuahua. loves it too. He will only take his meds slipped into a tiny ball of it. Not cheese, nor peanut butter. Only liverwurst.
