What should people talk about here, the lack of running water in their village? How cholera wiped out half their family?

Re: What will I do without QVC?

Maybe they would do better economically if they eased all the prima donnas into being salespeople. Quit with the goofy antics, yoga etc. and describe the stuff they're supposedly selling. If  I want yoga, i can take a class. Or maybe lose a few more of them and their salaries and lower prices?

Also last time I looked people could buy clothes and shoes where they choose without criticism.

I live near a small rural NC town. We have Belks, TJMax, Walmart, Target, Ross....

The last time I returned a mail order item to Belks, I decided to shop in the store.  It was during the week. They had one ladies dressing room open with 2-3 people ahead of me. Maybe 1-2 cashier stations open.  My knees were killing me so I just hung up the clothes on the dressing room rack and left.  I guess if I want something from them, I'll purchase online and return to store if it doesn't work out.

I have Walmart.  Period.

I would spend more money driving to the nearest larger city (and back) where there are retail stores than I do if I order something and want to return it.

Re: What will I do without QVC?

I see each perspective, from those that want it on for white noise (which is not the same as being an acutal customer making a purchase) to the person who quite literally has no physical place to shop besides Walmart. I own two things that are clothing from Walmart  and they both started falling apart after half a dozen washes. I wear them to putz around the house, only.

I grew up in a rural area but now have lived in major metro cities for the last 30yrs. Shopping in rural areas can totally stink and is frustrating and disappointing as you would not believe. Once upon a time there were the strip malls that had JCP, Ames, Kmart, and Rich's for day to day. And then  there were two fabulous local stores 1) a custom men's wear store that had been in business for almost 100yrs, and 2) a local high end department store that was beautiful.  They are all ratty stores now all the other businesses gone, that do not sell anything worth wearing and no "nice" clothes.

You might argue, just buy online. Wonderful, however where I grew up you had to (and still do) drive almost 30miles to the post office if you want to make a return. Amazon returns? The "local" Kohls is about 30miles (one way) too, and I am not sure it is even still open at this point. Not everyone has a car, the ability to drive, or want to make that trip.  So, it really is a big issue for some people out there if something happened to HSN and or QVC.

To those in the rural areas, I hear you and feel your frustration.  Nothing is over yet so shop if you can now.

I hear you......I hope they can find competent management and get themselves in a better position. I'm in the same boat as you, I rarely, if ever go to the stores anymore to shop. Every time I did, there was nothing I liked, or my size wasn't in stock.

I agree too.  I buy a lot here.  I know what brands and styles work for me.  Plus it's nice when I can get a petite length pant or long sleeved top which isn't easy in a regular B&M store.  I probably would never have discovered the many brands that I like now without QVC.

I can also understand if you live in an area without any good stores nearby or for whatever reason you just can't get out.

I just recently started going into Chicos & Talbots again.  I have two Chicos nearby and one Tablots but it's a big one.  It does help a lot when one can try items on in person if one is able to do so.

Re: What will I do without QVC?

Like a lot of you I used to shop QVC often. Then prices went way up & quality went down. Did stick with sport savy petites & occasionally D&C clearance. This past year my only purchases were 3 sports savy joggers and 1 D&C jacket on clearance. I shop ebay (just ordered a new pair of D&C linen shorts (new with tags) for $14 and free shipping. Also purchase pima cotton tees from Lands End - as a regular customer get lots of emails re clearance/sale items plus free shipping. I am fortunate to have a TJMax & JCP store within a few blocks from me that have good prices and sales.

Re: What will I do without QVC?

You will move on with a less expensive life. I have pretty much stopped shopping at the Q because of the things that brought me to this channel; Quality, Value and Convenience. None of that really exist anymore. I can shop online and find a better price for some of the same items. Most have no tax, no shipping fees and delivery is fast. Returns are very easy and credit to your account is within a day of return or sooner. I can't stand this new format with hosts that can't stop taking about family, trips, food, etc...I really don't care. If I want to be entertained, I watch Saturday Night Live.  So I do what I would recommend to anyone shopping with the Q...do your homework and shop wisely. The Q used to be the best game in town, but not anymore...we have choices.

Re: What will I do without QVC?

The last time I went in to a store to buy clothes, it was not a good thing. I went in to the dressing room and I had a bad feeling. I tried on several things, I had to get ready for jury duty. When I came out, the creepy lady that let me in came from behind the wall where I was changing. I said that's it for that place. I know she was watching me. Not that I had anything to hide, but just would like my privacy.  It's a little bit of a hassle to return things in the mail. There is also the cost. I still prefer it to being watched by a shadowy figure.Cat Mad
