Backordered simply means they have an order placed with the factory or supplier

They must be pretty confident that they can fill my order as they are still taking (waitlisted) orders for the same item.

Probably means you won't get it...lol.  Usually the item has either been so popular or sold out and QVC is trying to get more and if manufacturer can fill the reorder and provide it within 45 days QVC will fullfill the order.  If not, the backorder is cancelled.  I have has some things go on back order and think I only ended up getting one of the items.  There was once when I had a back order cancelled and it came back in stock couple weeks later, but at a higher price.  I called CS who was very helpful and filled my order at the original price.

Happy to say based on tracking my backordered item is just a day or two away.

It isn't right QVC offers an item as available.  You place an order, excited to receive before Christmas, and later in the day your order states backorder, money is removed from your bank account.  I don't want backorder if it says in stock.  Do not offer an item in stock when it isn't.  You ruined my Christmas.

Backorder for me often is frustrating.  I finally ordered myself a Christmas gift this year.  It was available when I ordered.  It went from in process to backorder over to in process again— but coming after Christmas—to backorder again this morning.  I guess Santa is not bringing me a present this year.  Sigh!

Late Dec. 18 update--Some time yesterday (Dec. 17th) the item went to in Process again; however, today (Dec. 18) the item went to Backorder once again. I wonder how many times this flip flop will happen. Growl!
