Frequently the hosts will mention "my producer" this and that. Does anyone know the job duties of a producer there? Inquiring minds are curious.

Producers
When the "On Air" light is on (which is, after all, 24 hours a day), strategy is in the hands of the Line Producers, who are the keys to proper execution of all sales strategies during the live show. Working with QVC's Production and Product Planning groups, the Line Producers are responsible for managing every second of the live program in an effort to maximize sales.
On the studio floor it's the Coordinating Producers who handle sales execution, working face to face with QVC vendors and on-air guests, and coordinating product demonstrations with vendors to ensure they meet QVC's high quality standards.

Thank you for the link.
The description is rather vague. Does anyone know what actual day-to-day tasks of a producer include? I.e., what is involved in "coordinating product demonstrations" or "managing every second of a live program." Thanks for any insight.

Must've not been a very popular idea as that post is nearly 4 years old and no new videos since.

I worked in cable TV for 20 years.
We had a 24 hour new channel and a local sports channel.
The Producer is the #1 person responsible for the overall appearance of the show. They decide when to cut to the various cameras (close ups, wide shots, B-roll, etc.)
They are like the conductors in an orchestra - keeping everything going smoothly.
There are also floor directors - those are the guys who supervise the cameras, countdown the time to the talent - let them know when to "roll up" a segment, etc. They are getting direction from the producer.
There are also graphics people, sound people, etc. The producer instructs them all.
The Producer is the person most often speaking to the talent thru their earpiece - giving them minute by minute instructions...letting them know the name and location of customers calling with testimonials, etc.
I am sure that Q shows have different elements than news or sports...but the job titles usually remain the same.

Good explanation. I think the producer also informs the host (via their earpiece) to stress or repeat a certain detail if they think that will pick up the sales.
