Re: Watching QVC less and less

Other than the occassional Linea show, I honestly can't remember the last time I sat and watched even thirty minutes of QVC.

The ten dollar cost for the priviledge of trying on a poly-rich sweater; the endless presentation of the same ten brands; the goofy culture of celebrity they're trying to build around their hosts (all of those branded shows--shoes with this one, electronics with that one, fitness with another...enough!), it all just leave me totally uninspired and unlikely to watch.

I can remember watching hours on a weekend, planning Sunday around Kathy's Diamonique three hour show and her once-a-month weekend with Joan Rivers, and when I couldn't sleep, leaving the Q on in the background.

Now? Amazon, ebay, zappos, sephora, nordstrom....here I come!

I agree.  Though I came too late to QVC to remember many of the things others enjoyed, I did used to enjoy watching QVC. I don't anymore. Too much repetition of uninteresting products and yes, the host focused 'cult of personality' has grown exceedingly old, especially since most of them are marginal, at best. And really, focus on the hosts to obfuscate the terrible nature of the programming wouldn't work even if they were all superstars.

There are a few along the way who I think would probably have made excellent friends or neighbors, but no, I, for one, am not exactly running a marathon to 'friend' any of them...

Re: Watching QVC less and less

I am trying really hard to break the QVC watching habit.  The programming and the hosts are making that easier to do.  I know what QVC has to offer and can look online if I think I want something, as opposed to being talked into it.   And some of the hosts absolutely get on my nerves or are so annoying, so I change the channel when they are on.  Most of my puchases are when I am watching because I guess I am an easy sale.  But the only really good deals are the lunchtime specials, so I can check those every day.  I am grateful to QVC for what I have, but I have enough.

Re: Watching QVC less and less

I have to say that I too am watching less and less of QVC and I go back as far as the CVN days.  Too much of the same old stuff over and over and over again.  Some of the hosts such as lovely Carolyn, Mary Beth and David who is fun and funny are always worth watching and may I add, dress appropriately for television.  QVC should put a stop to hosts wearing torn and tattered clothing.  Prices have gone up and quality has gone down.  It's a real shame because when you are handicapped QVC is an easy way to shop.  Now I shop less and less at the Q and more and more elsewhere.  Q, you need to pay more attention to what we, the viewers have to say.  It's your bottom line that is being affected!
