If we are not buying minimal food or shelter, then everything else is disposable income.
I think that price is always dependent on labor, quality, name and the scarcity and popularity of the item.
I have a few items in my life that I have paid top dollar for, because it is something I really, truly wanted and had to have.
QVC first attracted shoppers who were starting their lives, careers and homes and were very willing to shop and buy. Now most of us are older and have more than we need. QVC tries to catch our attention by offering new items with the more expensive prices.
Newer customers, the younger generation, prefer activities and experiences over possessions.
I still really enjoy shopping at QVC but I prefer to shop the lunch time and prime specials for super prices!

Thanks for the information. I was more wondering about clothes.
As others have said, years ago Q offered quality clothing in Silk, cashmere, cotton, linen. Also, interesting pieces such as painted floral sweaters from Italy, and DianeVonFustenberg knits, Ok leather goods, and 14kt 18kt gold jewelry. Not the quality jewelry you see in Greece, or Italy, but some nice pieces.
They were good basic wardrobe pieces for people who worked.
Now, not so much, especially in natural fibers.

Well, we can get our finest polyester at a high price here.
Some department stores should marking down clothing again once they get going with reopening.

Prices are mostly on the high side on these shopping channels, but every so often they decide to compete on items. I was thinking I heard QVC and HSN were changing their business model to sell in an upper priced market. It appears they are doing it. I've been thinking for awhile they are overpriced on clothing and shoes. I rarely purchase those items here. I totally agree with the OP about QVC food prices. Wow. No interest in any of that for me. Be careful what you wish for on USA made. I'm all for it as long it doesn't involve union jobs. That drives the price up unnecessarily. The way I see it, it will take years and years to undo the current manufacturing. Only thing I'm wanting to see happen quickly is drug and supplement manufacturing. Hopefully, something can be worked out on those prices.

what's you point?
that's less than five minutes reading on both sites you sent, do you think that people can understand the Greek crisis of several years ago?
Greece is doing very well now with our new elected prime minister.
Greece has survived from various catastophones in the past, history is here to open our eyes and teach us about.
What you president says about "fake news" here, that what Sotiris Nikas is manipulating to the tourists Greece
Remember that Bloomberg says that he is designed to solve global problems and that news leader mentioned is fake news when it comes to my country Greece because it has the individual Sotiris Nikas that he says that my country is bankrupt and etc etc.
If someone wants to read about the economy of Greece and the rest of the country, he/she can go directly to the source and not at Bloomberg with its puddle by its side mister Nikas.
