Re: Using oil to remove eye makeup

I've used baby oil for 50 years with no issues.  Put a little on a cotton ball, hold it on your eye for 5-10 seconds and wipe off the makeup.  I do use a facial cleanser after.

Do any of you do this and how does it work?  I have recently started feeling like winter dryness and heat is making my lashes a little brittle and I want to use something super gentle but super effective since I wear waterproof eyeliner.  My Neutrogena eye makeup remover is feeling too harsh. I was drawing eyeliner swatches on my hand the other day and put a few drops of argan oil on it and it wiped right off.  So I was wondering would it be good to use on my eyes or will my eyes get all gunked up and irritated.

@Grouchomarx   I use Eucerin cream recommended years ago by a Dermatologist.  I smear it on and then wipe makeup right off around eyes.  Then I wash my face and take a little and put it on around my eye as I sleep.    Noperfumes, o smell and works great.  I get mine at Walmart.

I tried using argan oil tonight on the eyes. It seems gentle enough and effective. We'll see if I go blind tomorrow lol. I have an excess of argan oil on hand so I'd be happy if it works well.

Re: Using oil to remove eye makeup

@Grouchomarx  Lots of good answers here. I would add that I never use any type of mascara except for washable. I find no reason to use waterproof and when I used to I found that it did not get removed to my satisfaction. I use Purity made simple foaming facial gel and my eyelashes feel very clean and soft.

Coconut oil works well for removing mascara. Like other oils, it's oily, but effective without a lot of rubbing around the eye. At least for me.

My sister has terribly sensitive eyes.  She uses baby oil all the time to remove her eye make-up. Anything else irritates her eyes, even removers made for the eye area.
