I am not happy with QVC starting out shipping with UPS and then transferring to USPS.  My order would have been on time and even early if it had not sat at the Post Office for 3 days. That seem to be the standard practice.  My mail delivery is late in the day so I can not count on getting anything within QVC's projected time.  Does anyone know why they do this?

Re: UPS to USPS

If I pay for shipping it should NOT go to the PO.  If it is free shipping there is probably nothing we can do about it.

They do it because it is "cheaper" for qvc knowing it takes a day at least or more shipping it that way.  Why should they care?  They already got your money once it's shipped, after that they don't care how long it takes to get to you.  That is why I am no longer going to shop at QVC, simply because they don't care for their customers, and their customer service dept newbies are rude and won't let you talk

Many retailers, including QVC, have started using UPS SurePost (and the equivalent FedEx SmartPost) to save money by coordinating services with local USPS branches. I'd expect this practice to increase rather than decrease in the coming years.

It seems to depend on your area as to whether this approach is good or bad—I'm fortunate because in my neck of the woods, UPS and the USPS do a great job with the handoffs, and there is rarely more than one day between a package arriving at the UPS hub and being taken to the USPS hub for final delivery. And that means for QVC packages, I virtually always receive them on or before the Estimated Delivery Date.

I also notice UPS holds onto packages for a few days.  I am wondering if they hold packages when there are other packages in transit, maybe trying to combine deliveries. Something is changed and it takes almost 10 days to receive orders...terrible service.

I have looked at a lot of tracking recently and it is NOT USPS who is the holdup for me.  Mine usually sits at QVC three days after I order it, it gets to OKC by UPS and sits there a couple of days.  THEN when it finally gets to the USPS office from UPS, it's in my mailbox the next day.

@Bestdressed  - UPS often holds SurePost packages for two main reasons: 1) If you have another UPS package en route to your home for delivery within a few days, the lower-service package may be kept at the hub until the next package arrives to consolidate deliveries. This can be a good thing because it means there's no handoff. 2) If your local UPS hub does not receive many SurePost packages in a given timeframe, it may wait until a certain number have arrived before taking them to the USPS office because this saves the company time, labor, and fuel.

@Sooner  - I totally agree; in looking back at my recent purchases, it seems that many sit "in processing" for the same length of time it takes them to reach me once they're finally in transit, regardless of the courier.

USPS is very good in my area. I prefer them to UPS because packages are delivered with the regular mail and I don’t have to keep watching for them.

USPS told me it's their cheapest rate.

Priority & First Class Mail will get delivered first.

That's why your package is sitting at the Post Office.
