My gift shopping is always done at this point.  All these packages are for ME.  I take advantage of all the year end sales to stock up.  So far, everything is on time.  No problems.  It's actually a good thing all the delivery companies are busy.  They all hire extra help this time of year.  Would be a waste if they were idle.

yes lots of people have been put back to work even if temporarily.  that is a very good thing these days.

Re: UPS Overwhelmed With Packages

I used to work for UPS and they have been using UHaul and Budget rental trucks to help deliver packages in December for years. The more we shop online, the busier they all become. You will always see 2 people in the trucks now, even FedEx..one a driver, one a runner, they can deliver faster this way, as they cannot come in at the end of the day until all their packages are delivered.

I have something on its way to me that shipped UPS.  The tracking info says it's in my city but no delivery date has been posted.  I thought that was really odd.  I do hope I get it this week.  It's a sweater for me, not a gift.

I spoke too soon.  My package was delivered today.

They should have hired more people.   Pure greed. Poor management.

Re: UPS Overwhelmed With Packages

In our development, the large UPS truck has only been delivering very large packages.  All the smaller packages are delivered by a UPS employee in a golf cart.  This happens every year from Thanksgiving to Dec. 24.

I have shopped some this week but NOT for gifts. I just took advantage of some good deals. Maybe retailers should have a spot on the order form to indicate that the buyer would accept AFTER Christmas delivery.

I have suggested on this forum that the Q should offer DELAYED shippment. There are times when I see a one time only or tsv that I want to get the special price but would rather have delayed delivery due to my being out of town.

I ordered a handbag from Macy's this evening and at the end received a message asking if I would like to get a discount on a future purchase in return for accepting delayed shipping. I declined the offer because the bag is a pretty plaid that I'd like to use for Christmas if possible. But it shows that some retailers are indeed doing just what you suggested.

Re: UPS Overwhelmed With Packages

I ordered a box of Waggoners Buckeyes from Evine Live last week...it wasn't due in till next week...naturally I wasn't looking for it to arrive this week....

Not able to sleep once again...I decided to check the tracking for my candy...see how far away it still was...and to my surprise...it said they were delivered yesterday...at 3:15pm....left at front door...

(by the wasy they were shipped on the 14th and arrived the 16th)

now I call that fast shipping...the Q. could learn from them...

Anyway....my point is...my UPS man never knocked at the door or rang my doorbell....I know for a fact I was in the hallway ..right by the front door...talking to my upstairs neighbor...we would have heard him ....I don't understand not letting people know they have left a package...I don't use my front door...only the back...so there was no chance for me to stumble on it...

I got it off my porch at 6am today...thankfully no one stole it...and the skunks or squirrels didn't attack the box...

This isn't the only  time its happened...it happens all year long....sometimes he leaves my packages at different addresses or different streets...as does the postman...and for that reason...neither of them will be receiving a Christmas gift...

Re: UPS Overwhelmed With Packages

Right now I am concerned about a return. I dropped of the Honora TSV  at the post office on 12/9, in the original package and using the QVC address label. My order page does not register the return, nor my credit card.

I sent an email to the Q today. I called customer service but after waiting an hour I hung up.

What happens if it is lost (or what ever)? Thanks for your replies and or experiences.

Today is 12/17.
