We have one that is two years old. The first year it worked great. Last year it would stop after running a bit. The Delongi rep said it needed to be drained. We went through that process and got a lot of water out and thought it was fine. We turned it on and it ran and we left the room. When we came back the carpet was saturated. I have no idea where all the water came from!
I called Delongi again and they said to keep a deep pan underneath it. Really? Just how nice is that supposed to look? They said we must live in a high humidity area -- I don't think so. We have yet to start it up this year.
It is well out of warranty and there is no service center near us.
Has anyone else ever had this problem with theirs?

@queendiva I bought one a few years ago (different brand) and used it in my living room during the day. At night (or when I wasn't using the unit) I would just lift the window, take the vent out and lock the window. No security issues for me.

@RollTide2008 The dowel is a good and inexpensive idea.
And yes, a window unit could be removed. Happenned my cousin. She worked in a low income area and wore expensive, flashy jewelry to work. Someone found out where her apt was located, went while she was at work, removed the window AC unit from the upper floor apt window and cleaned her out, except for what she was wearing that day.
In my area many more burglaries happen during daytime hours when the house is likely to be unoccupied.

That was my first thought!!! Seems that it would be easy for someone to get in the house by knocking that vent part out and push window out of the way...
That's not really a deficiency in the product. Couldn't the same be said for a window unit?
Or you could go to the hardware store and have them cut a dowel that would wedge into the window to prevent it from being opened.

Of course there are ways to deter any break in issues. But I would not want to have to deal with them.....
