why are the hosts walking around with the beats headphones around their neck (even when presenting other items) like it's the latest accessory? it looks kinda dumb. 

did their boss person tell them to do that perhaps?

Two reasons. Headphones ARE one of the latest accessories.

And the second reason is that wearing them around the neck is one of Beats' standard marketing tactics:

A dear friend of mine has a 15-year old son who *NEVER* takes off his Beats headphones.  If he's not listening to music (he's a drummer and a guitar player), he wears them around his neck - even unplugged from his ipod!!
They're definitely part fashion accessory!
