I haven't heard a host take a phone call in years. Probably because I watch primarily at night. Wow, that must have been so awkward.

You didn't miss a thing...a total nothingburger. Neither Gary nor Leah looked caught off guard or surprised and they answered her question professionally saying Carolyn was well and doing other things. I don't know the item number but the call came during the presentation of today's special value capris.

The 2nd call came during the presentation of a top. The only thing uncomfortable about that call was that the woman had trouble hearing and being heard because she didn't turn her tv down leading to delays and echoes. Not enjoyable to listen to but not the end of the world, lol.

I don't see anything wrong with someone asking about a previous host. I don't watch Q so if I had not read about Carolyn or others here on the board I wouldn't have known what happened to any of the hosts either?

Nothing embarrassing about asking about previous host?

These calls and questions are suspect because Carolyn has been gone for months, and most anyone who is enough of a regular viewer to know a host by name would have heard by now that she has been let go. The callers think they're being clever, but it's unkind to make Gary and Leah (or the audience) uncomfortable while they're trying to do their job or shop.

Agree most calls are cringe.

That had to be awkward, they don't screen the calls.

The presenters, whether the vender or the host, should easily be able to field any type of call.

I agree with you @kindred cats. I am actually in the minority. I enjoy the calls. I learn from them because a lot of times others will ask questions I wonder about too. Others will say how much they like the product(s) or items, which is beneficial too. Still others seem to be happy to be talking to the vendor, or maybe a little lonely, and both of those are fine with me.  Smiley Happy

A caller asked a simple question with a simple answer. They are both professional presenters and should expect the unexpected if they are taking live calls.  Should not been awkward at all!

The caller was not an idiot for asking.

Gary said that she's doing something else now and she's fine.  The woman was satisfied with that.

Not everyone is in on the latest gossip and goings-on at QVC.  There are occasional viewers who don't watch regularily and could easily not know about the lay-offs.  Give the lady a break.

I don't understand why some people think that everyone knows what's going on at QVC.

I've been with QVC forever and if it was not for these Forums I would never know what's happening and there is still alot that i don't know and don't want to know.

If they're going to take live calls during Denim and Co. shows management should have realized that this topic inevitably would pop up.

I certainly would not label the caller an "idiot."  Prepared responses should be made.

No need to call the caller "an idiot".  Yes it was in poor taste but  she may have asked that question intentionallty just to cause a stir...and she did!

@Chris915   If she was an infrequent viewer and doesn't participate on social media, how in the heck would she have known?  It was never announced on QVC .  And it has not yet been 3 months since the lay off.

There will be "where's Carolyn" questions for years to come.
