Shipping cost increasing?

I've noticed on a few clothing items that the shipping costs are higher lately. Just tuning in this morning to Denim & Co and Gary said the sweater they were presenting was light as a feather but when I looked on line for it the shipping cost is $5.50. Really deters me from purchasing in case of a return. Anybody else noticing this?

@Whispergirl. I run my own business and shipping related costs including packaging materials have gone up and rates will reflect that.

Since s/h for QVC is pure profit and they are having difficult financial times, raising the s/h charges makes sense to them.

Shipping is going up everywhere. Just look at the price of a stamp nowadays for a single letter.

@rockygems123 A friend of mine ran a small business on eBay some years ago but gave it up when the costs in money and time for shipping became prohibitive.

I'm not surprised to see prices go up - for individual items as they do here at QVC or in the fees Amazon, etc. collect upfront to provide what they call free shipping. It wasn't close to free the year I paid for Prime, but that was the year Amazon owned the rights to Downton Abbey and I wanted to catch up so I could enjoy the last several. Never paid for Prime again.

@yamma024 It's not a mistake; they're slowly but surely slipping a s&h increase in on us. There are now many items marked at $5.50. Why don't they just say they're increasing shipping prices?

QVC has some of the most expensive shipping costs out there. It’s merely a way for them to increase prices. They charge shipping on almost every single item, except high dollar items. Their greed has caused me to drastically stop ordering very much, just out of principle. Amazon lets you avoid shipping charges when you spend $35. I just wait until I have that much in my cart to order from Amazon. I don’t even pay for Prime. QVC prices are no longer even competitive on most items, they are way overpriced, if you check other sources.
I also get irritated when you look through a list of items, stop to read about one, it always takes you back to the top of the list, not where you were. That’s insulting to me. They’re just forcing you to look through everything all over again. Not very respectful to customers!
