Most of all, just about everything can be found elsewhere for a lower price, free shipping, or with promo codes.
@CalminHeart, that is incorrect. Yes, when issuing a refund the outgoing shipping charge is deducted from the refund amount but it is not double paying. Refunds are issued on the product price not the total invoice.
Invoice total before taxes $50 (product plus outgoing shipping of $3.50); refund amount $46.50. If they were charging you twice for outgoing shipping it would be $50 less $7.00 (double outgoing shipping charge) for a refund amount of $43.
Maybe I'm dense, I don't know. All I know is the shipping fee is added at the time of purchase and deducted at the time of refund. Fyi, I rarely use Q's label so this is without that charge. Here is an example of what I see on refunds (excluding tax).
$50.00 purchase
+$3.50 shipping
$53.50 total paid
$50.00 refund
-$3.50 shipping
$46.50 refunded
That is totally incorrect. If that is what is happening to you...you need to have the issue corrected.
Let's pretend you live in NH...NO sales tax, and as you stated you do NOT use the Q label.
$50.00 purchase
+$3.50 shipping
$53.50 total paid
CORRECT
You return it cuz it is ugly....
$50.00 REFUND
Another $3.50 is NOT deducted from your refund. You just don't get the original S/H back.

@RespectLife @CalminHeart I don't order from QVC often, so I'm not positive, but don't you get the $50 refund minus the charge for return shipping? I know they don't deduct the original shipping twice but thought they did deduct for the return shipping fee.

That is a slightly different situation than @CalminHeart was talking about.
@CalminHeart stated she rarely used the return label and we were just talking about the original shipping and handling charge (approx $3.50) to get it TO you.
Yes, If you use the QVC Return label, and it was NOT defective etc...just ugly let's say...
They will also deduct the cost of the return label...another $6.95 (or more)
Therefore, to just try something on and return because you don't like it could cost you $10.45 or MORE!
$3.50 original s/h not refunded
$6.95 return label fee cost

@LVQVC2020 wrote:Why does QVC charge a S&H charge for each item even when you buy multiples of the same? No other online retailer does this. Nor does any other online retailer charge a "handling" fee which, if you don't pay attention, you are possbily paying sales tax on bothe the S&H charge. Many States require sales tax collected on "handling" fees and since QVC combines them, they have to charge tax on the whole S&H amount! In the end, you are paying WAY MORE for a product than everywhere else! And then if you want to return an item, they want to charge a return shipping fee. Very few retailers do this now.
Neither one of those statements is true, so I didn't even read the rest. Just because you aren't familiar with something does not mean that thing does not exist.
I deal with many online retailers that charge shipping if you order more than one of the same item. Some even charge flat rate shipping, which might mean I'm paying $14 in shipping for 6 items, but can also mean I'm paying $14 for one item. Some do offer free shipping if you spend $50 or $100, but when individual items are only $9 and I only want two, I'm often seeing the checkout tell me I owe $6 shipping on $18 worth of products. I've left behind may incomplete purchases because of shipping fees and most of them haven't been at QVC.
A lot of bloggers and YouTubers love to order from Wish, which sells a lot of cheap items from Asia and loves to say something is free, "just pay shipping!" I added a bunch of small items to my cart and was excited to pay $15 for a bunch of cool items only to find out that the shipping was going to be $36.

Just don't order from the Q. If it's free shipping and you're definitely going to keep the item that's one thing. But, otherwise, it's far too much of a pain.
That's become my philosophy.

@World Traveler wrote:Charging shipping and handling for each item makes sense to me. Each item has to be "handled," whether by a person or machine. And each item adds to the cost of the postage (bigger and heavier bag, box, etc.).
If you know up front what it is going to cost you, then you have a chance to purchase or not to purchase the item(s).
@World Traveler I have missed you. I asked where you have been on the travel forum. Glad your still around.

Just a thought....Doesn’t Amazon (Amazon Prime) charge a yearly fee to order from their site? (Like Costco?) If so shipping is NOT free.
And to make the Amazon Prime fee worthwhile its been said you have to have at least 35 orders a year.........Or a few BIG orders a year. Just my Christmas orders alone was worth the prime fee.
I love Prime. It saves a lot of trips to the store. I also like the tv shows that go with it and sometimes they have flash sales. You also get music cheaper with Prime. Definitly a winner for me
