With all the layoffs I've seen and been through, people do find jobs and land on their feet again. Some even say it was a blessing in disguise as they went on to find other jobs or careers that they liked even more.
I'm astounded by some of the previous comments. Reading yours restored my faith in common sense individuals. Please, keep sharing.

@JudyL @Starry50 - I also agree that a company laying off individuals is nothing new and not a "sign of the times".
I liked what @icezeus said that it can turn into an opportunity for some to find another job that they love. When a door closes, another opens. I do hope everyone can land on their feet.

@Starry50 - sadly a severance package is not a guarantee with all jobs getting cut not just accross corporations.

Living in Florida and having visited the outlets many times as well as had the opportunity to be a part of their customer appreciation event where they had my friend and I on campus, I've met many of the hard working staff of HSN. I find qurate (whoops now qvc group) like typical clueless bureaucrats and feel it's only a short time til HSN is no more. (I mean just look at the renaming). I think when HSN shutters here, I'll take my business elsewhere. My sympathies to all those affected in the layoff, you all certainly deserve better and I hope you find it!

I do feel bad for those let go. If everyone remembers when this was announced at the start of the year, they said all employees would know by end of March their status with the company. I believe that they also stated there would be a skeleton crew kept on here in Florida. They would be customer service personnel and others to start the consolidation. It stinks to be laid off. Has happened to me 2x. The last one in August 2023 caught ught me totally off guard. The severance package stunk. 14 years of employment and received 2 weeks of pay along with my unused vacation time. And I was a director. For me, that turned into a good opportunity. I am almost full retirement age. Working. Enjoy my job. Gave me time in between this job to spend my last few weeks with my mom. We had no clue she would pass away 6 weeks later. Everything happens for a reason and I called my ex boss and thanked him for laying me off.
The people here in Florida will be just fine. I hope they did receive a decent severance package. But layoffs happen and right or wrong a company's only concern is their bottom line.

To work nights during the school week ☹️
For the record I worked weekends throughout HS because I wanted the independence from my mother.

Yes, I'm aware. And that, too, is nothing new. Business needs are constantly evolving and I will not go down the political road that you're trying to bait me in to.
Honestly, this forum is one of the saddest, dourest places I've ever come across. All bad, all the time. You can have it.
There was nothing political in tansy's post. IMHO, it sounds like you're adding your own narrative to it.
Big corporations lay off hundreds and thousands all the time. Shareholder profits and executive pay are much more important than employees.
Laws across the country have reduced workers rights to almost nothing which gives big companies more leeway.
I retired in 2016 after almost 40 years there. They laid off 10,000 nationwide in the last 5 years. They outsource becauase those employees get lower pay. They cancelled countless benefits for current and retired employees.
Luckily, I retired just before they cancelled the defined benefit plan for older employees. What they offer now is just 1/2 of what the monthly payout was under the DB plan.
Hang on. It's going to get a lost worse.

@tansy - Same! I had a PT job but not untl the age of 16. And the # of hours I was allowed to work was limited. Can you imagine allowing a 14 yr old kid to work overnights! Disaster waiting to happen.......

Is this affecting QVC employees in Pa? Hosts? Production crew? Or is this just in Florida?
