Yes, I'm aware. And that, too, is nothing new. Business needs are constantly evolving and I will not go down the political road that you're trying to bait me in to.
Honestly, this forum is one of the saddest, dourest places I've ever come across. All bad, all the time. You can have it.

This happens all the time and has happened for decades in any industry. It's not just a "sign of the times" we're living in. Layoffs, reorganizations within companies have always happened. It's sad for those people that are laid off, but I'm sure that QVC/HSN gave them a severance package. With all the layoffs I've seen and been through, people do find jobs and land on their feet again. Some even say it was a blessing in disguise as they went on to find other jobs or careers that they liked even more.

Being laid off is not necessarily a horrible thing. I've been laid off twice and the first time I found a better job. The second time they moved our jobs to Atlanta and I chose not to bother looking for another job and there was no way I would move. Some of the people who did choose to move were laid off within months and were very angry. They had sold their houses and uprooted their lives for what was promised a secure job only to be told less than 6 months later they were laid off. So moving for another position isn't always worth it.

I would agree. I was laid off 7 1/2 years ago from a job that I hated with a passion. I was fortunate, that I received a severance package, had some money saved, and was also able to receive unemployment benefits. This allowed me to be pickier in my choices for employment, for the six months that it took for me to find a job and co-workers that I enjoy. I just crossed my seven year anniversary at that job, and plan on retiring in five years. In my circumstances the layoff was a true blessing in disguise.

I feel bad for any person who is laid off especially in these uncertain times. I fear many more will lose jobs and income.

I just googled and it said there are currently 307,000 jobs available in Florida.
Yes, but how many want to change their careers to Waiters and Nursing Home Aides.
