QVC's first broadcast - 1986

[ Edited ]

Watching this made my day ...  I missed the very first broadcast~!

Check out the set, lighting, first host, and best of all "the numbers game."

Anyone out there ever win the $25,000, the vacation, or a car?

Re: QVC's first broadcast - 1986

There was a period when they put the name of every buyer (that day) into a drum, and at midnight they drew a name for a $1,000.00 credit at QVC.  The drawing was held at midnight, and I rarely stayed up for that. Kathy L. drew my name, but I didn't know it for a few days.  Got a call from the Q asking me why I hadn't called in to acknowledge the gift, and was very surprised.

I remember when Kathy picked that out of the drum!

Too funny.  I didn't start getting it on cable until 1991.

That's so funny. I like the old QVC logo with the telephone receiver on top. Thanks for posting!

Thanks!  My my my, how things have changed!   I remember the number game and drawing names in the early days.  I think they were still drawing numbers in the late 90's, weren't they?

INteresting to,watch.  I noticed, when I went to the link that they had other QVC video moments on the right, side and I watched the final Kathy Levine with Joan Rivers moments. WHat a delight to see that clip again.

Kathy ... thanks for mentioning the K. Levine clip w/Joan.   I never saw that "live", what a treasure viewing it.  There were many QVC clips to watch on the "right side."  I miss "those days."
