@Daysdee @Spurt  More sales gimmicks by the hosts. Doubt the Customer Service employees are aware of what goes on on-air; they are left to answer the uncomfortable questions. What an awkward position and a much lower paying job for them. SMH

@BirkiLady

The poor CS people are certainly the fall guys when cutomers get their merchandise and/or bills--tough job!

My situation occurred on Live Chat and Stacey DID provide the correct info On THE CHAT....and after much insistence put it on air....but then the host and vendor poo pooed the correction......you dont need much time to vacuum anyway.....contradicting what they talked about earlier how you need a good full hour of run time....😒

Re: QVC has really changed...

@PamfromCTFrom the first days I began to watch QVC in the "perfect" 1990's, no host or ever added in the shipping cost just as no posters who tout Amazon's free shipping ever bother to remind us they paid over $100 to get that free shipping if they are Prime members.

I don't really worry about people thinking they're getting something for nothing because if they're ordering on the phone, they hear the whole price before they agree to finish the sale and if they order online, they see the whole price before they click on purchase.

And as far as QVC being so superior in the 1990's -  I returned more items then than I ever return now!  That was  when I returned by first and last CitiKnit outfit, my fiirst and last VAlerie order, my first Ripka order and my first 2 Rivers orders!  Every one of those items arrived with defects!  I kept a few items that I really didn't much like but knew they weren't actually defective.  Wouldn't do that now, and in spite of my more discerning mindset, I find QVC's products as good or better than they used to be and most of the other changes they've made, I think are improvements.

Even though I'm not working now, I'd never want to go back to the days when you had to order during the show, not before or after.  When there was a TSV, but not many other sales like we see today.  I'd be happy to have some of my favorite hosts from the past still working on QVC, but the hosts I liked may not be the hosts someone else enjoyed.  That's just how the cookie crumbles!

I watched Courtney K do a purse presentation a few weeks ago.  She said"if I had to pay full price I probably wouldn't buy it but with installments it's different"  I thought that was odd to say when trying to sell something.

@Pecky

That's an odd way to say it---poorly expressed...She should have said: if  she had to pay the full price all at once she wouldn't buy it, but breaking it down into several monthly payments it is affordable...and Im not a host

@millieshops, Yes, you have a point.  I have not shopped here anywhere as long as you.  So I have no idea of what happened back then.  Guess I’m just a “full disclosure” type of person.  I made no mention of what was then, versus now, in my post.

Perhaps there’s some confusion.  I have only been here a few years, so I can’t begin to make comparisons.

IMO, this deceiving the customer has been going on for quite awhile. Not everyone is sharp enough to catch the subtle misinformation. I feel they are mostly deceiving the elderly who may have trouble seeing and hearing. I never thought much of PJD because of her sales tactics, but she's not the only one.

Re: QVC has really changed...

I agree that QVC has changed.  Not only in the caliber of hosts, but in the quality of their products.  I have ordered many things in the past, and enjoyed them with few returns, but the qulality recently doesn't begin to match what you had i..  Jilll Bauer's retirement and speculation of Mary Beth's leaving will leave a void that QVC won't be ale to fill.  Some of the new hosts are self aggrandizing amd absolutely ridiculous especially the night hosts.

The hairdo's. glasses and all the posing are far from attractive.  I'm 80 years old, with money to spend, and all I do is retun almost everything.  Even Susan Graver thinks all her producets are "amazing".  Have news....not so.  A note to management...fix it...please..

Its like the QVC hosts don't quite give all the details to the viewer...While it might be enough of a sales pitch to get someone to order, I wonder how many complaints and returns this also generates....

Not only do the hosts not mention that shipping will be included, but also how it's divided into the number of Easy Pays and added into the Easy Pay installments....

Just like they didn't mention that the one hour running time on the Dyson cordless vacuum was on the LOW setting and but kept bragging about how long the charge was, funny how they didn't say on the HIGH setting the running time is only 30-40 minutes or less until someone asked specifically on the Live Facebook Chat of the show!!! It shouldn't have had to be asked and a bit disingenuous of the host and especially the vendor.  Sad that prospective buyers need to do their own research, you can't always trust what host/vendors say....

And Jayne Brown is the FIRST host that I heard that mentioned on the free exchange only applies if the size and/or color that you requested is available....if not available you will get a refund....Has anyone heard other hosts say this?  Normally they say "QVC offers a free 30 day exchange..".

@Spurt

Speaking about Dyson......I bought the fan....... none of the hosts ever mentioned how loud it is,none mentioned all the ,"DANGER" info, it tells you in the manual .Noone says you really need to use the remote and not use it manually on and off,noone tells you it needs to be cleaned offten or that it contains a, "dangerous chemical" somewhere inside it the instructions say to be aware and be careful!

I bought it and was shocked reading the manual.They sell it like a reg fan.I would have returned it but threw away the box too fast,never expecting anything other than a fan!!!

WOW!!! As a consumer that concerns me..how convenient for them not to mention all those things!...But I bet they went through colors ad nauseum during the presentatiom....I think I'll pass on any Dyson products...Woman Frustrated

Re: QVC has really changed...

My neighbor used to make fun of me and put me down because I shopped on QVC. She was always telling me how to spend my money.   I have been shopping here since 1990.  Now I shop less and she’s the QVC Queen and tells me how great everything is.  I just laugh and tell her it used to be so much better, especially the jewelry.

Re: QVC has really changed...

Easy pay.

Sometimes I have used it, sometimes not, don’t ask me why.

It’s the same price either way.

I think the only reason I use it is if I return something

there is less money to refund me. I guess I would rather wait for

say like a $20 refund vs a $60 one.

Arrogant hosts pushing the Q card and easy pays, chit chat about absolutely

nothing is the way it is. I shop online more and actually watch less.

The Q card and the easy pays seems to be more pertinent then the

information a shopper would like to hear about a certain product they

are interested in. Pretty ridiculous.

But hey,  let’s just whip that Q card out again, just in case ...

because you never know, a viewer may have missed out on it

the other zillion times it was already mentioned.

I wonder when the gimmicks here and other places also became more important

than the products?

It seems to be always something somewhere these days to try to entice buyers.

A so called sale, a coupon, free shipping, buy more save more, whatever they

can come up with that they think will increase the bottom line.
