When I first started watching in the early 90's QVC was so professional and the presentations were informative and accurate.  Today Pat Dementri was presenting a pair of Clark's and said "don't buy those cheap flip-flops, get these sandals for $9.00."  What she neglected to say was that $9.00 was one payment of 5--so the Clark's sandals were $45.00.    I wonder how many viewers get taken in by some of this.  I know the graphics on easy pay are very hard to read too.

Re: QVC has really changed...

Notice no one adds in shipping costs when they quote a price.

Years ago I enjoyed watching QVC rather I made a purchase or not. I really enjoyed when two host would have a cook off show. Times have changed that's for sure.

@Daysdee

Its like the QVC hosts don't quite give all the details to the viewer...While it might be enough of a sales pitch to get someone to order, I wonder how many complaints and returns this also generates....

Not only do the hosts not mention that shipping will be included, but also how it's divided into the number of Easy Pays and added into the Easy Pay installments....

Just like they didn't mention that the one hour running time on the Dyson cordless vacuum was on the LOW setting and but kept bragging about how long the charge was, funny how they didn't say on the HIGH setting the running time is only 30-40 minutes or less until someone asked specifically on the Live Facebook Chat of the show!!! It shouldn't have had to be asked and a bit disingenuous of the host and especially the vendor.  Sad that prospective buyers need to do their own research, you can't always trust what host/vendors say....

And Jayne Brown is the FIRST host that I heard that mentioned on the free exchange only applies if the size and/or color that you requested is available....if not available you will get a refund....Has anyone heard other hosts say this?  Normally they say "QVC offers a free 30 day exchange..".

Re: QVC has really changed...

This is my pet peeve about QVC.  The hosts say this ALOT.  I am sure someone out there is deceived by this, and it is just crummy behavior from QVC because I am sure they know what they are doing.

I even complained about this to Customer Service once.  They denied all knowledge of what I was talking about . . .

Re: QVC has really changed...

The one that bugs me - I've watched zillions of cordless vac demos and they never show EXACTLY how to plug in to recharge.  I see them hang the darn thing up on the wall in the video - - but how many homes have an electrical plug-in 2/3rds UP a wall?    I'd have to get an electrician.  Details - or things we might not like - are totally avoided in the presentations.

Re: QVC has really changed...

It was several years ago when I noticed a distinct change and they all started stating the price as the easy pay installment, sometimes not even mentioning easy pay.   I thought, how can this be legal.  But they've been doing it ever since.  I think they should first state the full price, then say the easy pay.

@Daysdee @Spurt  More sales gimmicks by the hosts. Doubt the Customer Service employees are aware of what goes on on-air; they are left to answer the uncomfortable questions. What an awkward position and a much lower paying job for them. SMH

@Grouchomarx Getting the full price info first - certainly would 'help' if you were blind.  Surprise it's not a law.

Re: QVC has really changed...

I watched Courtney K do a purse presentation a few weeks ago.  She said"if I had to pay full price I probably wouldn't buy it but with installments it's different"  I thought that was odd to say when trying to sell something.
