QVC 2016 SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES GOING UP

I noticed now s/h is going up to anywhere from 7.00 per item (for a bowl!) to what I saw 1 day recently 15.00! QVC is so popular now in the USA that they do not need to keep s/h to make their profits. They make HUGE profits already. I will not buy from QVC unless I absolutely have to now and usually only if it is on free s/h. QVC used to be so much nicer before viewership exploded. Now most everything is over priced (I usually find the product elsewhere and purchase it for a lower price and free s/h) and the s/h has climbed even higher since the new year 2016. Remember when they announced last year that everything was going to be 3.00 s/h??  QVC should do free s/h. They are making profits hand over fist. My purchases from QVC will be less and less.

Re: QVC 2016 SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES GOING UP

I have already considerably cut down on my purchases from QVC in the last year.  I have cancelled several autoships because I can honestly get most things from the vendor directly or from somewhere like Sephora or Ulta with just a tad bit difference in price depending on what I'm looking.  I always figure in the s/h charges to see what my overall price will be.  If I can get it locally for a bit more per piece but without s/h, I'm going to buy locally or from the vendor.

I have found that in the last year, I've bought more from HSN just because of their incentives...coupons offered, reduced or free s/h, and spendable cash back in your account if you return an item.

@crush, I have to say HSN has enticed me with their $10 off  coupons and free shipping. During the Christmas season, I received several coupon offers and used them. Even after Christmas, they are still offering the $10 coupons. It's a great incentive and am shopping there more myself.

I've quit watching and shopping the shopping channels - saving lots of money.  Would rather shop locally and help my local economy.

I haven't bought anything this year, so I can't comment about increases.  I thought I'd mention though that the $3 charge wasn't for everything.  It was just for some clothing and makeup.  Other things were $5 and $7 and the rest didn't change.

Re: QVC 2016 SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES GOING UP

It would be really helpful if they would clarify this issue on their homepage under customer service. S/H costs are all over the map, even with apparel: a few items of clothing are $3.00 while others are $5.00. A pair of leggings for one brand is $3.00 while the same or very similar item in another brand (especially GILI) is $5.00. The same story goes for jewelry. If there's a price point at which shipping costs increase, they should state this up front.

I think the $3.00 (non-refundable and no 1/2 off for other items in the same order) shipping announcement was a bit of a shell game. This lack of transparancy makes not buying here so much easier.

Agree about outrageous shipping fees and really ladies there's no need to pay it. so many sites online ship for free!  I recenlty ordered clothes from LL Bean and paid NO s/h!  Good prices (less than what I would have paid on Q in fact) and such great quality.  Sizing good too, no issues.

Bloomingdales and Nordstrom both ship makeup items at n/c!

I only buy from QVC because of EZ Pay, thats it.

I'd add... can we say 'making it up as we go along'... isn't working for me either. If there are honest to goodness deals to be had here, and I mean

on items that are actually desirable, I wish someone would tell us where...

The whole 'new shipping' thing was a ruse and, I believe, reflective of the hue and cry about former shipping charges. Could it be it was designed to up their share of the take while at the same time designed to make some feel as though they were giving us a deal. They weren't and they aren't.

Original Poster:  Are you sure this is something new in 2016?   Handbangs have been over $10 to ship, even after the "new lower nonrefundable shipping charges" policy.  Kitchen and other stuff I've bought has been $5.00 to ship (i.e.Lock and Lock)etc.  So is this something you are just now noticing or something actually new?

Re: QVC 2016 SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES GOING UP

First, as has already been pointed out, the OP is incorrect.  QVC never stated that everything would be $3 to ship, so one is getting upset over something that never was.

Secondly, shipping items costs money.  Soe companies attempt to trick their customers into believing that shipping is free, but the costs are either buried into the base pricing of items, or the companies require minimum purchases which ultimately cause people to buy more and spend more money because they believe they are getting a deal.

Thirdly, shipping costs have gone up.  Carriers have raised prices, and I dare anyone here to ship some of the same items for a lower prices.  In many cases, we cannot.

Fourth, the costs also include handling.  In addition to the cost of shipping, there are costs involved with packaging, insurance, labor and overhead.  These things cost money.

Fifth, and perhaps most importantly, there is no sort of shipping clarification needed.  QVC tells us from the onset the cost of shipping each item.  We know the total cost, and we can choose to purchase or not.  Stop acting as if QVC is doing something nefarious by hiding shipping prices.  That is silly.
