I was hoping Covid would put a stop to all the hugging and kissing, but it is back with a vengeance.

Glad I made you smile.  I'm right, though.  You'd think all of these people were in intimate relationships they way they are all over each other.  Nevermind the "I love yous" we have to endure.  Extremely unprofessional and annoying, to say the least.

And now, it's I Adore You!  Isaac started that one but now I have heard some hosts say it to him!

I've heard Alberti and Isaac tell each other "I love you." I hope it doesn't start with all the men.

In the host/vendor relationship, the host holds the "power." The vendor depends on the host liking them to do a good job selling their merchandise.

I don't know about the Q, but I was a Purchasing Dept. Buyer. We had some government contracts, and we were forbidden to accept any gratuities at Christmas or anytime from the vendors. If that is not a rule at the Q, I would think Christmas would be elaborate for hosts and a reason to be very friendly with vendors, love them and "adore" them and kiss, kiss them!

I remember when Joan Rivers and Lisa Robertson were together on air, Joan would tell Lisa, 'I love you,' Lisa would respond, 'I love you, more' at the end of the show.

On HSN the hosts talk a lot about the samples they get at home to try the product. Must be nice!

What would be thier motivation to be pretend super friendly with each other?

SALES.

That's all that matters...and they reel you in buy making it seem like one big happy family.

"You TOO can be popular and fun and free if you buy XXXXXXXX!!!

Just like us!!"

I think the motivation for the most overly exuberant hugs are to show how close the host is to the vendor and appropriate knowledge through "friendships" with the vendors.

Yup.  Actors and sales people. They are no different than the person hawking cars on tv, or products on infomercials, etc. That's their job. To SELL PRODUCT.

The fact that so many viewers think of them as 'friends', just shows you how successful they are in their jobs. All the newer ones who have joined just do not seem to be able to build a close relationship with the tv audience which spells trouble for QVC. The HSN team seems better in that regard.

You bring up an interesting point. I want to know the exact same information about my car salesman's personal life and their families as I do show hosts.

That would be zero.
