Wear and Return Policy

[ Edited ]

Qvc is the only place I shop where you can wash and wear something and wear shoes and still be able to return within 30 days. I don't normally do that but once I wore shoes, they rubbed and gave me a blister and I could return them worn!  Most stores won't give you money back if tags are off. If a lot of people wear and return, imagine the loss they take on returns!  Perhaps it might help if they stopped allowing that  Just a thought.

@Catch71 Oh, the return policy is the main reason I started shopping QVC and the reason I continue. It's also a selling point I use when I tell people to check them out. I will tell them they can try items on and wear to see if they work and if not they can return within the 30 days.

I feel this is most important for shoes, you just can't tell if they are comfortable until you go out and about. Most all other retailers require them to be unworn.

Apparel for me is also crucial. Yes, we try them on but, I want to know if it washes well. Especially within the last couple years, fabrication has changed greatly on QVC and I want to see how the item looks after washing and drying.

With all that said, I rarely return anything as I do a lot of research and require reviews before making an online purchase. I believe, and it's just my opinion, if you had to return everything in like new condition the sales would drop. Plus, dang, I like to shop on Ebay for items that are like new but QVC/HSN returns Smiley Very Happy.

I agree about wearing for a day or so.  I will try clothing on and wear around the house maybe a few hours.  By that time I know if it meets my needs.

Shoes are another story.  I bought a pair of Vince Camuto boots that I was sure I was going to love.  I wore them to a Christmas party dinner.  I was sitting most of the time.  Just walking to and from the restaurant was enough for me to know this isn't going to work.

Luckily I was able to clean the soles and returned them.  I didn't want the next person to receive damaged merch.

@cjm61

The return policy is also one of my reasons for shopping here too.

I also believe a return policy is important.   However I have never washed an item and then returned it.  I know immmeduately if I like an item well enough to keep it and if not I pack it up abd return it.  Same with shoes.  I wear them in the house for a while to see if they work and if not they go back unworn.  The only time I purchased an As Is item was a huge disappointment as whoever originally bought the item must have used bleach and there were bleach spots on the waist band.   I couldn't believe it but I guess when the Q receives a return they don't inspect the items very well

Only thing I returned after washing was a sweater.  It almost completely fell apart in the washing.  I really liked it but didn't reorder.

@cjm61   I buy mostly small makeup items on eBay, but I did notice recently a lot of QVC designers on eBay.   In fact, I found a brand new pair of Susan Graver jeans that are selling for over $60 on the Q.  I know because I own them,   To my surprise they were my size and in contact with the seller he confirmed they were new never worn with tags.  I got them for $23 and they came within a few days and I couldn't find any flaws.    I did notice there is a lot of CabdacecCameron Bure items too.  I guess a lot of Q folks sell their stuff on EBay.

I do not do this, if I return an item, it is in new condition and can be sold again as such.  I know immediately if an item will fit or not and if it doesn't, I return it asap.  I have a 7.5 C width foot and shoes are so difficult for me to find, so if shoes don't fit, I know it and if I keep them and later they bother me I donate.  I don't think its right or fair to wear things and return.  Clothing and shoes are the main thing I buy on QVC and I do return quite a bit, because if I'm not happy I'm returning it.  And, before anyone says maybe I shouldn't shop here, at least I don't use things and return them.  The only thing I've used and returned is a beauty item, because you truly have no idea about it unless you use it.

In addition, 10 years or so ago, I was a seller on the bay and sold customer returns and you would not believe the condition of some of things.  Just gross, and worn out, and covered in pet hair.  I don't sell anymore, but that definitely had a bearing on how I feel about buying things, wearing them, and returning them.  Even if tthe company allows it, in my opinion, its not fair.

@Teddixat Yes, you can usually find an item on Ebay if you are patient. They also state if they are New or Used. Many times, some specific sellers, state used when it is just a QVC/HSN return. Some don't look used, worn or washed.

Most of the sellers on Ebay buy pallets of clothing. You can see they have 20,000 items and sometimes more. I have always been confused though how QVC will sell AS IS items that are clearly used and some kitchen items are missing parts. Yet, I have purchased hundreds and hundreds of items off Ebay in the past years and most everything is practically brand new.

@sunsetbeach I have to respectfully disagree. Although I checked my account and I did not return a single thing last year, the prior year I returned 3 items. When a person orders online one cannot feel the fabric, determine how it will wash, and most importantly you have no idea if shoes will still be comfortable for 10 hours on your feet while at work.

With all that said, I never did return shoes. I did receive a pair I thought were the most comfortable shoes then a few weeks later wore them to work. I ended up with blisters. Unfortunately, it was past the 30 day return so I sold them at a garage sale. But I have encouraged family that were very interested in Vionic to try them for that 30 days and see if they liked them. Vionic even says you need to break them in a little bit at a time. That policy is the only reason they made the purchase with QVC.

In addition, QVC's prices are extremely high. If a person does pay $75 for a top they should be allowed to see how it washes. I've read reviews where posters state an item shrunk 2". Why is it not fair for this person to return an item that shrunk 2" or that an apparel item fell apart after washing?

Also you state "because you truly have no idea about it unless you use it." Isn't this exactly what we are talking about? You don't know if shoes will be comfortable unless you wear them on concrete or hard flooring where you are on your feet all day. Walking around on your carpet is just not the same. You don't know if an item will shrink or not unless you wash and dry it.

Lastly, these returns are accounted for when businesses set prices. The majority of my purchases are made BECAUSE I know I can return, even though I rarely use this benefit, I like knowing it's there should I need it. But, I do believe it's a shame that there are people that have abused this policy, and that is shameful.
