Not nearly as bad as me huh... And just what is THAT supposed to mean?!

The Clayton is a beauty. It's heavy though. Sometimes they show up in as-is for quite a bit less. Always happy to enable a fellow handbag enthusiast...

Hello Dear Spurt, my friend...

I don't want to sound or be like a Debbie downer...but, its been a really rough last 48 hrs. First of all I'm already not feeling well physically...having some really bad days. Thursday evening I received a call from my cousin in Indiana...she called to let me know that my Uncle Marion had passed away. He was married to my Aunt Paula, she is the one I wrote you about 5 months ago who had passed away. So, Spurt...its been really really tough. My Aunt Paula and Uncle Masrion were married 67 years and they were the last two relatives that I was really close to in my lifetime. They were like second parents to me and when my father passed away suddenly when I was 7...my dear mother would send me back to Indiana every summer for 3 months and every Christmas for 2 weeks so I would have family to spend the summers with and the Christmas holidays. Since it was just me and my mother. That was an incredibly unselfish thing for her to do. So from the time I was eight through high school, I would spend every summer with them in Indiana and our whole family would rent a house right on the ocean at Myrtle Beach, SC. Alll those memories come flooding back to me and it makes it really hard as I'm too ill to travel.So I could not be at their services. His funeral was today at 11am in Valdosta, GA. Once I got into my 20's and beyond...I still spent much time with them, they would come out here to CA to visit regularly. So I've been really struggling with the loss of both of them so close together. They were wonderful wonderful people and they gave me love and memories to last a lifetime and beyond. I'm crying as I write this....having a really hard time right now...so I'm sorry I don't want to bring you down. I would absolutely love to see pics of Figgy whenever you are able to get them downloaded. Seeing her sweet pics, I'm sure, would lift my spirits....but, no rush. I'm glad you got a new cats meow for her. You didn't mention if you still have a house guest or not. It has been so unbelivably warm here in CA, yesterday it was 80 degrees. No snow in the mountains, no rain here and we are in a really bad drought. I've seen where the arctic air is going into the deep south and into your area as well. I sure hope you do not get any more ice. Its so dangerous to drive on and walk on. When I was in Indiana one Christmas...we hit some black ice on the Interstate , going to a IU basketball game and the car spun into the grassy area between the lanes.

Yes, its another dismal weekend of programming isn't it ? I did happen to watch the Dooney and Bourke show. I absolutely love the Clayton satchel.I was tempted to purchase even though Im not carrying a handbag right now. Just to sit it out and look at it. I love that bag since the first time I saw it. I'm not nearly as bad as our dear friend,Stevie...but, I do enjoy the handbag shows. I hope you are staying safe and warm, my friend. Give Figgy a hug, kiss and a scratch for me. Your very sad CA friend, sending you a hug.

Hey Bobbie my dear friend,

I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well.....

And I am so so sorry to hear about your Uncle's passing.....my heartfelt condolences, prayers, and thoughts are headed your way....

It sounds like your aunt and uncle were very special to you and you had a very close relationship and shared some fun times.

It is a very tough thing to lose a loved one.....especially those that have been so close to us all of our lives. My sister was asking me about a recipe my mom used to make during cold weather....and it was a bit sad to take out her old cookbook and recipe cards and to see her handwriting....and realize how much I miss her....And same thing with my Aunt, we were always close and a friend was asking me about getting some new plants for her spring flower garden.....I had to tell her I didnt have a lot of knowledge in that area, I always asked my Aunt that knew about every flower and plant there was and the feeding, soil, and sunlight that each took, and it made me reminisce and I thought about how much she loved her garden and how we would go to all the plant nurserys together......all I could offer to my friend was to go to a radio station website and tune in to the garden show that my aunt would listen to every Saturday morning.....heaven helped you if you called her during her program {#emotions_dlg.laugh} And she was a very DEVOTED NBA Spurs fan she always listened to pre game post game anything Spurs....she just loved Tony Parker.....But she hated the Cowboys because of Jerry Jones!

Oh yes, we wish we could bring our loved ones back and enjoy those times once again....it is very difficult. But sometimes a fond memory will make us smile to try to ease the pain.

As for our weather....well we are warming up for a day or two before another cold front comes in.....But during our winter storm....even though the road crews had de-iced all the expressways and major roads they had 244 accidents BEFORE THE RUSH HOUR.,...so that is why the mayor encouraged school and business closings .....

Oh yes, I still have the house guest.....a friend chose a name for her, PUDDIN'....but Im trying to acclimate her and turn her into a more friendly cat before finding her a new home.....she is coming around although very very slowly.....I dont want her to wind up like a feral cat a friend took in, all the poor kitty did was hide under the bed all the time and never interacted with anyone, or her other cat.....

Well Bobby.....I am giving you a big Texas sized hug in hopes that it will pick up your spirits....and Figgy gives you lots of purrs....Take Care!

Hi Bobby... well, our blast of winter is pretty much done, although it is still brutally cold here, for the area anyway. And yes, I did eek out another day at home today. I had a week off in early December and another at Christmas and now these past few days. I could very much get used to this...

I did watch Val's shows. Really enjoy her with Carolyn and although I can't say I was well behaved I was reasonably well behaved... I got the garland I mentioned and one of the 'matching' wreaths, along with her twig rooster and hen... Honestly, I shouldn't have purchased anything, but am hoping these all meet my expectations.

Spurt seems to be keeping a low profile these days and I personally didn't watch any of the games last weekend and won't be watching the Superbowl. Just not in my DNA I guess. I enjoy sports in small doses, but these 'big' games are as much media events as anything else and truth be told, I don't like either team playing in the Superbowl so really, what do I care!?

Today was very bright and sunny but very cold so Nickie (my tom) enjoyed the fact that I kept the heat up a little higher than usual today and that I was around to curl up with... I believe it's supposed to stay cold for a while now with highs most days not even in the 30's...

Hope you enjoyed Valerie's shows too. Did you break bad, Bobby, and order?

Wink

Hey Stevie....well after a round of spring like weather it was ctually 78 Monday.....then Thursday afternoon a wintry mix came in a dusting of snow....which melted very quickly, but we also got what I dread ICE.........Ice on my entry and sidewalks and the roads will be filled with drivers that will be driving like a bat out of hades on the icy roads....I dont need to get mixed up with that....so I stayed home today... a lot of schools and some businesses were closed...But it is supposed to get up to 64 on Satuday, 72 on Sunday....and then another cold front comes in plunging us back to the 30's and 40's for the highs....its a roller coaster....

I was mad I did not get a chance to see Valerie's show....I should have recorded it..I did look at the items on air. It sounds like you made out like a bandit.

I also liked that garland with the birds nest and thought it would look pretty on my armoire and it was a good price too....I paid a lot for the floral one I got from Hobby Lobby that I have there now....I thought the twig rooster and hen were cute too....I have VPH's bunnies that are made out of twigs/grass...very cute and I will put them out closer to Easter time....

I went to a couple Spurs games....and have been so tired when I've gotten home from work lately, and did a bit of furniture rearranging, I moved a small bookcase from my bedroom to the living room, but lately I just feel like eating dinner and collapsing on the couch.....

well football will soon be over...{#emotions_dlg.crying} And like I told Bobby once the Super Bowl is over, I guess I will use some of my time Sundays to catch up on a few chores and catch up on some reading too....

I got to see the Gold Rush Programming and it was ruined because David M had to be present to justify his purchases.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}...It he purchased nice quality pieces and they priced them correct, there is just no need for him to be present at all!!!....He FINALLY admitted that gold prices have actually come down, but still justified the resin, but did not mention that the price should have come down even more not only due to the price of gold, but also due to the resin material...which he STILL justifies as making the gold stronger and more durable...A lot was the same---Byzantine, some of the earrings I recognized....but they did have some new nice pieces too.....David and Rick are on right now....so I can imagine how much you would have enjoyed this show...Wink

Another thing I noticed was these high priced beauty items....close to $400 in price....the hair remover that you just use for a short while....in addition to them constantly hawking the hair restorer device that is also expensive....is this is part of moms scheme to "pad the profits"....{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

We meet again... Wink

The only reason I got to see Val's show was because it snowed here and I opted out... Like you, I'd been fighting a sinus thing anyway, so I decided, why would I or should I go out in the snow on slick roads when I can stay home and curl up with a good book and watch a couple hours of actually interesting programming on QVC, which, as we both know, is in way short supply... I do look forward to the arrival of my orders and, as noted, could've really done more damage with the birdcages and wire apothecaries... Fortunately, sanity prevailed, for once, anyway...

As mentioned elsewhere, I am SO cold and SO tired of being cold, but I'll still take it over the heat and humidity that seems to last here from May until October... Our snow fall near me was sort of limited (maybe four or five inches) but folks just a little north of me got about double that... It's gray and dreary today with a light dusting predicted, but, well, we all know about those, uh, predictions... We might as well consult with the way long gone Nostradamus as listen to anything the weather persons have to say...

I DVR'd the gold rush kick off and watched it later and then watched the wrap up... That was probably as much as I needed to see, but it was far more interesting and enjoyable than anything on tap for the weekend... As I said to Bobby, above, I will never understand how they can just keep tossing out this qwap weekend after weekend, I guess hoping some of it will stick!

As for sports, I'll probably be watching some of the Olympics, despite the lousy choice of venue, but I wont' even turn on the Superbowl. I have no interest in the teams or in the elongated game, pre-game, half-time and post game hoopla and fail to comprehend the mentality that watches for the commercials... I don't like Seattle. They remind me of the so not classy, sort of junk-yard dog teams usually fielded by the Ravens, Eagles and Steelers, but I like Manning even less, so although I don't think they will, I hope they rip him a new one...

And with those cheery thoughts, I'm off to either bundle up in bed or make the bed (I'll decide when I get there...) so I can steel myself for a trip out into the arctic air to run a few errands!

{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Hey Stevie......I got home and watched some of the Dooney Show....ah yes THE CLAYTON....what a wonderful bag, loved those 4 outside pockets.....and the colors were wonderful too....I especially liked the ocean blue.....But a little out of my budget right now.....So how many bags did Sue and Lisa sell you.....and although I know you love your green....did you pick up the ORCHID.....afterall its the Pantone Color Of The Year! {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}....or a good excuse to buy another bag....WinkWink

As for the cold....you sound like my sister....she's tired of the cold too....and I reminded her then you will sick and tired of the heat and humidity....and that will come soon enough....But I know what you both mean....I guess we are not used to having to bundle up....a week seems too long....but I just think about friends/relatives that live up north....where its cold 9 months out of the year....I remember when we were kids and visited my cousins up north during Easter Break....and there was SNOW FLURRIES in LATE APRIL....and I was so tired of having to wear a coat and boots for a week...Our weather sounds similiar....May through mid October heat, heat, and more heat and then throw in the humdity......although our temperatures are at or near 100 probably more often...

My sis wanted to spruce up her home with some new accessories....and she wanted to do a couple of floral arrangements too....so we went to Hobby Lobby.....I could spend a day in there...so many wonderful and unique decor items to chose from....it really gets your creative juices going.....I bought a few items....although I need them like a whole in the head I have so much stuff and running out of room to store my rotating seasonal items....Although my sis likes my knack of decorating....I lean more toward the English Cottage look.....she leans more to the Traditional...or sometimes Tuscan style...so I would suggest things....but she wasnt actually sold on it and she had to think about it...so she wound up with one picture....but she also wanted to look around more at different stores...She mentioned that the best ideas came from when we go to THE PARADE OF HOMES and seeing all the different ways the designers and decorators did each house....Since that wont happen until July....I suggested we go to some very high priced home accessory stores....but we left that for another day....

We both went over to my friend's house that had surgery to help her take her Christmas stuff down......since she cant lift real heavy stuff with her bad arm.....OMG....I thought I had a lot of stuff but nothing compared to hers.....we made a dent but still a lot of work to be done....and my sister was wasting time to urge her to throw things and give things away.....we arent there to clean closets lets get the tree down, ornaments and other things packed up.....and before we put them in her store room she can get rid of a few things...but I was not looking for a year round project...My sister is the opposite of a hoarder...she throws practically EVERYTHING away then has to borrow from me or friends and then buys stuff all over again.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} And watch out what you "lend" her...because that might be given or thrown away too....{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

As for the SUPER BOWL---I watch only THE GAME I do not watch all the hype starting at sunrise....SHEESH! Do the QVC programmers work part-time for the NFL.....the NFL hoopla is just as boring as QVC's lineup.....moms must know Goodell and shared ideas {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

And why oh why do some tune in for COMMERCIALS---insanity has gripped our nation...and most of the commercials are just plain irritating and channel changers for sure......

Im neutral on the opponents....I dont like the Seahawks thugs, but I do very much like Russell Wilson (cute and humble young man....so unlike....no I won't go there....Wink)...I like their coach.....and then there are The Broncos with "the brother".....and of course they have former Redskin Champ Bailey....what a bad trade that was for Clinton Portis...{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

As for the Olympics....I will watch some of it....although I cannot stand Bob Costa...and I mean come on Bob.....we know your age and jet black hair looks a bit fake and over the top.....many mean age gracefully and sometimes are even more handsome and distinguished as they embrace aging....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}..(think Pete Carroll)....Wink

As for the Q.....I just dont get it....I guess they are standing pat and sales figures be darned....I made the mistake of turning it on this morning....to none other than one of my all tine "favorites".....THE ONE AND ONLY INFAMOUS SILICONE LIDS!!!!! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}....And when I flipped through again....Emeril and BAM I turned the channel! {#emotions_dlg.glare}

Bundle up well my friend if you decide to brave it to get those errands done....and remember layering......it will be 72 here before another cool front arrives with some rain!!!

Hello Dear Spurt,

Thank you so very much for your kind and caring words and thoughtful prayers. My spirits are a little better today...that's a good thing. Still not feeling well...but, I don;t feel as down and sad. But I do feel so very blessed to have had my Aunt and Uncle in my life and they showed me enough love and gave me enough memories to last 10 lifetimes. I will miss them so ...every single day.

Glad to hear that you still have your house guest. I'm glad to know that Figgy doesn't get too jealous. Hopefully he will become more used to people and less skiddish. Boy oh boy...I turned into the Q this morning and it wasn;t but 5 minutes when I saw my first and LAST happy dance. And good grief....didn't they just get rid of those silicone pot lids ? Now they have more ! How many times can we see that dang Vitamix presented ? I just can't take 24 hrs of the kitchen shows....in fact I can't even take one hour. But, you know ...those foodies...I'm sure they are on cloud 9 today. It was a nice reprieve yesterday with the Dooney shows. Yes ,I know the Clayton is very expensive and I wouldn't even carry it...at the present time. But, I would like to buy it just to set it out and look at it. I just love that bag. Hummmm....I wonder how much damage Stevie did yesterday on those Dooney shows ?{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I know exactly how you feel when you referred to seeing your moms handwriting . It just kind of makes your heart sink to your stomach. I feel exactly the same way when I see my mom's handwriting too. Yes, doesn't it seem like we all have that special Aunt ? The one that always held that special place in your heart. Seems like when we are young, you feel as if time will go by so slowly and things will never change. But, alas they do. About a year ago I heard a quote that has stuck with me , that rings so true..."the days are long, but the years are short". Sorry I digress once more.

Spurt, you're never going to believe this one. While everybody is in a deep freeze....we are running our A/C all day. It's absolutely crazy and I hate it. We went from fall to spring. It's been 80 here...next month it will probably be 90 and we are still in winter. I love the cold weather we get here, but...so far this year , no cold weather and no rain. It's really bad here in California. Yes, I did hear that you are getting another arctic blast. I hope you don't get anymore ice. Give Figgy a hug and scratch for me. Hubby and I were going to watch the Grammy's this evening until we realized we don't know 90% of the artists on there. But, I do like watching the red carpet and all the crazy outfits people are wearing. There is going to be a performance by "Chicago" that my husband wants to see. I hope you are having a nice Sunday so far...it's still morning here. Stay safe and warm and hope to hear from you soon. Sending you a hug from very warm California.

Everytime I see a handbag show on, I think of you. I just wonder how long you can stay strong ?Wink

I also thought of you yesterday...when I saw that man of yours...presenting a hour of Vitamix. I thought...what a combination...more than a blender and that man of yours together in one show {#emotions_dlg.laugh} Yes they are right, you are Mom's favorite {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Yes, Stevie...life does present many challenges. More sometimes than we think we can handle. I just take it day by day. Thank you so much for your kind words. They really meant a lot.

Hope you are having a nice Sunday afternoon, keeping warm and I know you are NOT watching the Q.

OH THAT MAN OF MINE and Vitamix (you know, it's true... It's just SO MUCH MORE than a blender) all in one fell swoop... Be still my heart!!

Uh, glad I missed it!

{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Now Bobby and Spurt, as for those handbag shows, well, I know I have a certain reputation... And yes, I realize I've earned it... but truly, I am able to watch and not buy and I'll have you both know that I did NOT order any Dooney bag yesterday from QVC... As I've noted before, their pricing is not the best and well, we all know about their shipping. Now, that having been said, I did procure YET another new bag at TJ Maxx yesterday evening and yes, I am living in shame....

{#emotions_dlg.blush} {#emotions_dlg.blushing} {#emotions_dlg.crying}

All that said, it was extremely difficult to look the other way when they presented the Clayton in bone and had the Buckle Dome Tassel satchel (also in bone) not sold out, I could not have been held responsible for my actions...

{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Now, don't either of you ask me about damage incurred as a result of Friday's gold shows because to be quite candid and rather blunt, I'm not saying a word... At least not right now... Suffice it to say a 12 Step program really needs to be in my immediate future.
