And yes, I did eek out another day at home today. I had a week off in early December and another at Christmas and now these past few days. I could very much get used to this...
I did watch Val's shows. Really enjoy her with Carolyn and although I can't say I was well behaved I was reasonably well behaved... I got the garland I mentioned and one of the 'matching' wreaths, along with her twig rooster and hen... Honestly, I shouldn't have purchased anything, but am hoping these all meet my expectations.
Spurt seems to be keeping a low profile these days and I personally didn't watch any of the games last weekend and won't be watching the Superbowl. Just not in my DNA I guess. I enjoy sports in small doses, but these 'big' games are as much media events as anything else and truth be told, I don't like either team playing in the Superbowl so really, what do I care!?
Today was very bright and sunny but very cold so Nickie (my tom) enjoyed the fact that I kept the heat up a little higher than usual today and that I was around to curl up with... I believe it's supposed to stay cold for a while now with highs most days not even in the 30's...
Hope you enjoyed Valerie's shows too. Did you break bad, Bobby, and order?
Hey Stevie....well after a round of spring like weather it was ctually 78 Monday.....then Thursday afternoon a wintry mix came in a dusting of snow....which melted very quickly, but we also got what I dread ICE.........Ice on my entry and sidewalks and the roads will be filled with drivers that will be driving like a bat out of hades on the icy roads....I dont need to get mixed up with that....so I stayed home today... a lot of schools and some businesses were closed...But it is supposed to get up to 64 on Satuday, 72 on Sunday....and then another cold front comes in plunging us back to the 30's and 40's for the highs....its a roller coaster....
I was mad I did not get a chance to see Valerie's show....I should have recorded it..I did look at the items on air. It sounds like you made out like a bandit.
I also liked that garland with the birds nest and thought it would look pretty on my armoire and it was a good price too....I paid a lot for the floral one I got from Hobby Lobby that I have there now....I thought the twig rooster and hen were cute too....I have VPH's bunnies that are made out of twigs/grass...very cute and I will put them out closer to Easter time....
I went to a couple Spurs games....and have been so tired when I've gotten home from work lately, and did a bit of furniture rearranging, I moved a small bookcase from my bedroom to the living room, but lately I just feel like eating dinner and collapsing on the couch.....
well football will soon be over...
And like I told Bobby once the Super Bowl is over, I guess I will use some of my time Sundays to catch up on a few chores and catch up on some reading too....
I got to see the Gold Rush Programming and it was ruined because David M had to be present to justify his purchases.
...It he purchased nice quality pieces and they priced them correct, there is just no need for him to be present at all!!!....He FINALLY admitted that gold prices have actually come down, but still justified the resin, but did not mention that the price should have come down even more not only due to the price of gold, but also due to the resin material...which he STILL justifies as making the gold stronger and more durable...A lot was the same---Byzantine, some of the earrings I recognized....but they did have some new nice pieces too.....David and Rick are on right now....so I can imagine how much you would have enjoyed this show...
Another thing I noticed was these high priced beauty items....close to $400 in price....the hair remover that you just use for a short while....in addition to them constantly hawking the hair restorer device that is also expensive....is this is part of moms scheme to "pad the profits"....
We meet again...
The only reason I got to see Val's show was because it snowed here and I opted out... Like you, I'd been fighting a sinus thing anyway, so I decided, why would I or should I go out in the snow on slick roads when I can stay home and curl up with a good book and watch a couple hours of actually interesting programming on QVC, which, as we both know, is in way short supply... I do look forward to the arrival of my orders and, as noted, could've really done more damage with the birdcages and wire apothecaries... Fortunately, sanity prevailed, for once, anyway...
As mentioned elsewhere, I am SO cold and SO tired of being cold, but I'll still take it over the heat and humidity that seems to last here from May until October... Our snow fall near me was sort of limited (maybe four or five inches) but folks just a little north of me got about double that... It's gray and dreary today with a light dusting predicted, but, well, we all know about those, uh, predictions... We might as well consult with the way long gone Nostradamus as listen to anything the weather persons have to say...
I DVR'd the gold rush kick off and watched it later and then watched the wrap up... That was probably as much as I needed to see, but it was far more interesting and enjoyable than anything on tap for the weekend... As I said to Bobby, above, I will never understand how they can just keep tossing out this qwap weekend after weekend, I guess hoping some of it will stick!
As for sports, I'll probably be watching some of the Olympics, despite the lousy choice of venue, but I wont' even turn on the Superbowl. I have no interest in the teams or in the elongated game, pre-game, half-time and post game hoopla and fail to comprehend the mentality that watches for the commercials... I don't like Seattle. They remind me of the so not classy, sort of junk-yard dog teams usually fielded by the Ravens, Eagles and Steelers, but I like Manning even less, so although I don't think they will, I hope they rip him a new one...
And with those cheery thoughts, I'm off to either bundle up in bed or make the bed (I'll decide when I get there...) so I can steel myself for a trip out into the arctic air to run a few errands!
Hey Stevie......I got home and watched some of the Dooney Show....ah yes THE CLAYTON....what a wonderful bag, loved those 4 outside pockets.....and the colors were wonderful too....I especially liked the ocean blue.....But a little out of my budget right now.....So how many bags did Sue and Lisa sell you.....and although I know you love your green....did you pick up the ORCHID.....afterall its the Pantone Color Of The Year!
....or a good excuse to buy another bag....
As for the cold....you sound like my sister....she's tired of the cold too....and I reminded her then you will sick and tired of the heat and humidity....and that will come soon enough....But I know what you both mean....I guess we are not used to having to bundle up....a week seems too long....but I just think about friends/relatives that live up north....where its cold 9 months out of the year....I remember when we were kids and visited my cousins up north during Easter Break....and there was SNOW FLURRIES in LATE APRIL....and I was so tired of having to wear a coat and boots for a week...Our weather sounds similiar....May through mid October heat, heat, and more heat and then throw in the humdity......although our temperatures are at or near 100 probably more often...
My sis wanted to spruce up her home with some new accessories....and she wanted to do a couple of floral arrangements too....so we went to Hobby Lobby.....I could spend a day in there...so many wonderful and unique decor items to chose from....it really gets your creative juices going.....I bought a few items....although I need them like a whole in the head I have so much stuff and running out of room to store my rotating seasonal items....Although my sis likes my knack of decorating....I lean more toward the English Cottage look.....she leans more to the Traditional...or sometimes Tuscan style...so I would suggest things....but she wasnt actually sold on it and she had to think about it...so she wound up with one picture....but she also wanted to look around more at different stores...She mentioned that the best ideas came from when we go to THE PARADE OF HOMES and seeing all the different ways the designers and decorators did each house....Since that wont happen until July....I suggested we go to some very high priced home accessory stores....but we left that for another day....
We both went over to my friend's house that had surgery to help her take her Christmas stuff down......since she cant lift real heavy stuff with her bad arm.....OMG....I thought I had a lot of stuff but nothing compared to hers.....we made a dent but still a lot of work to be done....and my sister was wasting time to urge her to throw things and give things away.....we arent there to clean closets lets get the tree down, ornaments and other things packed up.....and before we put them in her store room she can get rid of a few things...but I was not looking for a year round project...My sister is the opposite of a hoarder...she throws practically EVERYTHING away then has to borrow from me or friends and then buys stuff all over again.....
And watch out what you "lend" her...because that might be given or thrown away too....
As for the SUPER BOWL---I watch only THE GAME I do not watch all the hype starting at sunrise....SHEESH! Do the QVC programmers work part-time for the NFL.....the NFL hoopla is just as boring as QVC's lineup.....moms must know Goodell and shared ideas
And why oh why do some tune in for COMMERCIALS---insanity has gripped our nation...and most of the commercials are just plain irritating and channel changers for sure......
Im neutral on the opponents....I dont like the Seahawks thugs, but I do very much like Russell Wilson (cute and humble young man....so unlike....no I won't go there....
)...I like their coach.....and then there are The Broncos with "the brother".....and of course they have former Redskin Champ Bailey....what a bad trade that was for Clinton Portis...
As for the Olympics....I will watch some of it....although I cannot stand Bob Costa...and I mean come on Bob.....we know your age and jet black hair looks a bit fake and over the top.....many mean age gracefully and sometimes are even more handsome and distinguished as they embrace aging....
..(think Pete Carroll)....
As for the Q.....I just dont get it....I guess they are standing pat and sales figures be darned....I made the mistake of turning it on this morning....to none other than one of my all tine "favorites".....THE ONE AND ONLY INFAMOUS SILICONE LIDS!!!!!
....And when I flipped through again....Emeril and BAM I turned the channel!
Bundle up well my friend if you decide to brave it to get those errands done....and remember layering......it will be 72 here before another cool front arrives with some rain!!!
I will (sniff) ignore your questioning about bags ordered, as I have responded to your inquiry elsewhere (see above...) but suffice it to say, yes, the Clayton is a TDF bag and I can only be glad I nabbed one on a significant sale from DB early on and when they too still offered EP, which, sadly, they appear no longer to do. The Q probably begged them not to... I got the bag in black because I thought that with that particular bag it would be so very universal. I do, however, now covet it (and the dome buckle satchel, as noted) in bone... Nothing for me in orchid, thank you. It might be Pantone's color of the year, but it ain't mine! Besides, with pricey leather bags I almost never pick an esoteric or trendy color, preferring neutrals or the occasional jewel tone color, both of which, I think, stand the test of time far better than the seasonal hues... Others seem to like them and some of them are indeed beautiful colors, but most of them aren't for me...

I actually like winter and I like cold weather, but it has been WAY cold here lately and that's what's getting a bit old... Fortunately, both yesterday and today were cold without being bitter, so I'm not some great bastion of misery, as I might have been last week when the temperatures were single digits and, with windchill, below... A few days of that goes a long, LONG way...
I'd have to say my decorating style is pretty mixed, but mostly with elements of country style (English, French and American) and with a few hints of other styles, including the occasional contemporary piece thrown in the mix, though I'd never go for an entire room of contemporary, finding it's typically too bland and sterile...
My mom is like your sis and is famous for throwing things out and then either she or I will note that certain things really should've been kept... I can't tell you how many times through the years I've been driven to distraction by looking for something I really wanted to keep only to find that she'd tossed it... Most recently she went on a cleaning binge only to later realize she'd thrown out an entire bag of her shoes... and I don't mean shoes she meant to throw out... I felt so badly for her even though it was a tad humorous and I can only hope she learned a little lesson about precipitously tossing things out the door!! That being said, I do seriously need to pare down and also to stop acquiring. I simply don't have room for all this stuff! Good of you and sis to help out your injured friend. My gosh, her recovery surely seems to be moving slowly, so hope she's doing well...
As for the Superbowl, well, best I just not go there. You hit the nail on the head. The Seahawks are thugs, but I'd still rather see them win their first than the repugnant one win another... I nearly barfed reading one of the threads last week where one of the posters noted she was watching that 'cute' Peyton Manning... I refrained from responding, but wanted badly to ask her when her next vision care appointment was scheduled... Oh well, each to their own... But I am way sick of the continued deification of Manning. Speaking of football, in as much as Revenge is pre-empted tonight in favor of the insipid Bachelor (really, that slop is STILL being televised...) I turned over to the never entertaining Pro-Bowl (my gosh, what ugly uniforms...) only to be treated to some majorly untalented 'musician' performing the halftime show. Off it went. I'll find something else.
Yes, Costas really should have been replaced by now. He's been doing the Olympics for far too long and really, he's become a caricature... Surely, they have some up and coming broadcaster (with a more natural look...) who they could let take over... When it gets right down to it, isn't it time another network aside from NBC have a shot at them...?
Oh well... another weekend winds down and I did get all my errands run, and alas now I can dread the start of another work week... Hope you make it a good one!

Hi Bobby......during the week its difficult to find time to post due to work and sometimes come home a bit frazzled and tired.....but i wanted to post a picture to make you smile. I couldnt figure it out with this new fangled computer....so I took mine to work and at break asked one of my computer savvy coworkers to see if they could help and you can see that didnt work.....so I read some of the forums here and finally using Firefox it enabled me to post from photo bucket.....
So hope you enjoy the pix of Figgy and Puddin with the cats meow.....
I have a doctor's appointment later this afternoon so I took the day off today....

Oh Stevie....
Everytime I see a handbag show on, I think of you. I just wonder how long you can stay strong ?
I also thought of you yesterday...when I saw that man of yours...presenting a hour of Vitamix. I thought...what a combination...more than a blender and that man of yours together in one show
Yes they are right, you are Mom's favorite
Hey Bobby my dear friend......
Well it appears there is a bit of jealousy between Figgy and Puddin....Puddin was playing with the cats meow and I guess Figgy got irritated.....so she made a vicious head on tackle to take out Puddin......It really was a hard it too....kinda like those Disney Animal films where to rams were butting heads...both were okay.....and she did it again this morning....
.Figgy would improve my Redskin defense 100% my team needs to sign her..maybe I should follow the NFL concussio procedure...
..But now they sleeping side by side on a chair so go figure.....I guess she doesnt like Puddin taking over the cats meow....

Uh, glad I missed it!
Now Bobby and Spurt, as for those handbag shows, well, I know I have a certain reputation... And yes, I realize I've earned it... but truly, I am able to watch and not buy and I'll have you both know that I did NOT order any Dooney bag yesterday from QVC... As I've noted before, their pricing is not the best and well, we all know about their shipping. Now, that having been said, I did procure YET another new bag at TJ Maxx yesterday evening and yes, I am living in shame....

All that said, it was extremely difficult to look the other way when they presented the Clayton in bone and had the Buckle Dome Tassel satchel (also in bone) not sold out, I could not have been held responsible for my actions...
Now, don't either of you ask me about damage incurred as a result of Friday's gold shows because to be quite candid and rather blunt, I'm not saying a word... At least not right now... Suffice it to say a 12 Step program really needs to be in my immediate future.
Hey Stevie....I wasnt dissing you about those Dooney bags....they really had some beauties and I had to really restrain myself.....very tempted because of the 6 easy pays too.....I normally go to neutrals too---black and shades of brown.....although I have a pearlized very very light pink tig that is more like a pearlized bone.....The exception is that since I wear a lot of jeans I do have bags in shades of blue.....LEAD WITH THE BAG my friend...
I did break down and bought some earrings from the gold show.....they did have the perfect size I had been looking for....so am not faulting you for the gold purchases...when the Q finally brings out good stuff ya gotta support the effort afterall....

Hey Stevie....
It sounds like our decorating styles are much alike....I am not into contemporary ....it reminds me of an office and thats something I want to get away from when I come home from work, NOT live in! .....but it seems to be THE STYLE that HGTV favors and just not for me......I can see a few pieces to add sleek lines....but too much appears cold and sterile...
Well those meteorologist predicted snowy mix yesterday....but thankfully just cold and no sleet or ice! But according to these "experts" its supposed to warm up to the mid 70's by the weekend, before another round of cold weather....we are on a roller coaster...
OMG your poor mom to throw out her good shoes.......there is paring down....and then there is paring down....
So did she have to go out and buy all new shoes! My sis got rid of my good baking pan that was perfect when I made brownies to bring to a pot luck or to work on occasion ......and I havent found another quite like it---some are too big, some too small....I told her she owes me BIG TIME...
But yes I definitely need to purge....a big problem is not only all my Christmas stuff but all the seasonal stuff and stuff for flower arrangements.....I was furniture shopping with a friend and saw a couch I really liked and we remarked since it was n a neutral color you could really change out your pillows and accessories for the seasons....and I remarked that is the problem WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO STORE ALL THAT STUFF!!!!
and we had a good laugh.....well I am not really in the market for new furniture anyway.....
As for my injured friend....she has healed well, but she is still in pain when she tries to use that arm, she goes to her physical therapy appointments, but of course if she did her exercises at home like she was supposed to she might be further along.....but she is the biggest procrastinator....and like Scarlett O'Hara....tomorrow is another day...Ill do it tomorrow, but then she doesnt excercise another day, but this isn't about procrastinating about work or cleaning your house, it's about your health and being able to use an arm like you used to .....so I would be following the doctor's and therapist orders to a T.....but like my sis said she wont change...oh well, but she's such a sweet person, with a good heart, and always willing to go out of her way to help others.....so I guess we all have our personality qwerks both good and bad...
Stevie, PLEASE tell me what IDIOTS actually watch that BATCHELOR show....ARRRGGHHH!!!! Definitely NOT my cup of tea. I did enjoy the Pro Bowl (a last hurrah....this and the Super Bowl) before the season comes to an END
Although the play in the Pro Bowl on the field was good, they played some defense and gave effort.....it was painful to watch due to the uniforms.....I mean OMG I thought Id have to adjust the brightness on my tv.....who designed those things....Q's Bag Lady.or perhaps Our Lady Of Liquid Knit.... it was missing the shark bite hem....but the material did resemble Liquid Knit....hmmmm. Well just my luck (or lack of it).....Deon Sander's handpicked Team (with 3 of my Redskins ) lost the game by one point....
It figures....
LOL.....I liked your fan story about "the brother" .....I wouldnt exactly put him in the heartthrob class....
Someone on a sports blog posted a link of pictures of QBs that looked bad without their shirts and those that looked good....there was a really funny pix of Eli with a beer belly in a bathing suit on the beach holding a pail....I emailed that one to my sis....
....but actually Peyton was in pretty good shape....Tony Romo also made the bad list-WORST honorable mention.....of course Colin K along with RG3 and some others made the good list....but a good bod doesnt necessarily translate into wins....
View at your own risk..nothing risque just pix in swimsuits/shorts...I just know how much you like the Manning family
It takes a couple seconds to load and Eli is the third pix down......
http://www.buzzfeed.com/mrloganrhoades/the-best-and-worst-of-shirtless-nfl-starting-quarterbacks
And its not so much Costas age that gets me its his arrogance and narcissism and smug attitude that makes me dislike him so....
Well have a good week....

Sniff, sniff... it's too late... You've shamed me into looking to see which of my recent acquisitions I shall return... And actually, if you read the purse and Dooney forums, it's BOBBY who seems to have caught the purse bug lately...
(Miz Clayton is STILL waiting, Bobby...)

As for those returns... you'll both be happy to know I just returned a bag (not a Dooney) to the Q... But heck, I was going to return it anyway. The bag had lines on the leather and the color wasn't what I anticipated... Still, I'm contemplating another return or two, one to the Maxx... Sniff, sniff...
I bought a ring and the TSV during the gold shows, but the TSV is on wait list and if this appears to be a protracted wait, I might end up cancelling The ring was ordered because the one I really wanted appeared to be sold out, but it just came back yesterday at a clearance price so the one I ordered from the gold shows might well go back as well... In addition, I just returned two pieces of jewelry that were Christmas presents but didn't work out and next week will be returning a ring I ordered (chocolate diamonds, but in chocolate covered sterling, which is butt ugly) so the Q will be unhappy, I'm sure... Hmmmm... I guess I can expect "the letter" any day now...
Despite the returns, my bag collection is ridiculous so there is never any threat that I won't be able to LEAD WITH THE BAG....

And its not so much Costas age that gets me its his arrogance and narcissism and smug attitude that makes me dislike him so....
Well have a good week....
My mom has replaced some of her shoes, but I really feel bad for her having done that... It was such a costly mistake, not just in terms of cost, but shoes that fit and were comfortable to wear...
Will check out the QB pics at home... but have seen the one of Dopey at the beach and it wasn't pretty... And while I'll assume big bro is probably in decent shape, well, from the neck down, anyway... no can't even go there... Romo has no appeal for me at any level, but, well, more later after I've taken a gander but I will say that Alex Smith sure fills out his uniform nicely...
Not telling those watching the Bachelor anything... Don't want to get that close... It might be catching.... And enjoy your last NFL hurrah, in fact do so for both of us, because I'm done for the season...
As for your injured friend, well, cold as it might sound... perhaps she would have more impetus to work on her recovery if she her friends weren't quite as willing to do her chores on her behalf... Just a thought...
It is so cold here and has been for the past few days... If 'they' are to be believed, we'll have a warm-up toward the end of the week, but heaven forbid we actually have a few nice days because the price for the warm up will be cloudy skies...
Oh well... Hope the rest of the week goes well for you too...
