My mom started hoarding a bit after my dad died. I’m sure she was trying to fill the hole in her heart.

And she bought me way too many presents growing up for the same reason.

There were quite a few things to go through when she died, but the legacy that she left me was her LOVE.

I agree. But it was different from most of the others we always see and there was some creativity in it so I'll give a grade A for that. But I'll give the highest marks,  A++, in the areas of tactless, presumptive, and strange. 

But bottom line, yes it's just another anti QVC rant. 

And now I'm off to see if I can stockpile more Valerie Parr Hill items!

I totally understand the OP's point of view.  When my MIL died, we paid thousands of dollars to have her place cleaned out.  We lived 800 miles away. My husband did not want any of it, and the STUFF was overwhelming.  I have tried to keep downsizing as a result.  I would NEVER want my kids to deal with what we faced.

I have spent my days in the last six weeks (since my husband died) going through what he considered his belongings.  Yes, it is exhausting both physically and mentally but what memories each piece brings as I pick it up and decide the fate of where it will be headed.  Most of us hopefully just see this task as part of living and loving.
