Regional turns of phrase are just that - turns of phrase. There's nothing wrong about that, even if the phrase is not gramiticly correct. Anyway, I would not hold a home shopping host to the same standard as a news anchor. Show hosts are supposed to be folksy. It's part of the sell.

Lots of expressions are local and they grew up with them.  I am not offended by them and or I really don't care what they say.  It is who they are.  

 

In our area, that was once rural the expression was DOWN THE ROAD, meaning going anywhere else to shop or to get entertainment or simply to work.  I miss it since that expression is long gone.
